As @jenniferkates.bsky.social reminds me, it was Dan McQuade who was at Hannibal Burress's October 2014 show at the Troc when he said “You rape women, Bill Cosby,” happened to be recording it, made it go viral, and from then on no one ever could forget or deny who Bill Cosby was.

My last messages with him were him saying that I don’t always need to give him credit for the idea every time I get asked about my run. Joke’s on him: I never was going to agree to that and I still don’t.

I’m so thankful for the way his article kick-started this amazing event in my life that introduced me to so many people, but he was the first. I’ll miss texting him about it every year. May his memory be a blessing. Sending love this his family and close friends.

As always, I kicked off every run thanking Dan for his crazy idea and for all the people it’s brought together.

I first discovered @dhm.bsky.social’s writing when his article about Rocky’s running route when viral in 2013. I emailed him the day the article came out to get his permission to turn it into a real run. The past December, the 13th Annual Rocky 50k was run.
