A neat little experiment, Mark. Thank you. I often use HP5 pushed to 800 in the winter months .... and am usually very pleased with the contrast.
The last couple of times I pushed it to 1600, I developed it in FX39 II. I was amazed by the fine detail and smooth grain.

Lucky you.
I had to read this thread, carefully and twice!
I was .... "how is Kristie going to go about this?"
I am bamboozled. But, no matter - it is not me doing this! π
Congrats on your funding.
I wish you luck - and clarity in your project.
I will follow any progress and thoughts you share with interest!
Thank you for the re-post, Rob @rkphotographic.bsky.social π
Thanks muchly for the re-post, Dave @daveinelland.bsky.social π
Thanks, Dave.
Nicely judged ..... I didn't have a clue which was which.
Excellent ..... nicely paired.
Nice. I like that.π
Ugh ..... rotten luck, Tom.
Thamk you for steering this in your unique and inspiring way, Paula. πππ
I call it a fine bit of creativity, Dave. I am guessing all those tones, stains and birds are electronic help, but if you had told me it was old fashioned toning and darkroom trickery, including neg sandwiches, then I would have said "Well done". It has aged like a print in the smoke filled snug. π
A stumpy trunk of an ancient, leaning oak.
Out takes ...... try this one, that I printed, but was not impressed with .....

Nikon F75. 28-70mm. Yellow filter. DD-X.
I think I got the print wrong, but felt the image wasn't good enough to repeat, or waste another sheet on.

Looks yummy, John.
Oooh ..... that will be nice for you to confirm its post servicing operation. I hope there are no hiccups with dev etc.
Aaah, Steve. I understand your harnessed frustration - stuck in your gilded cage (my - probably wrong - interpretation). You have described it well.
Wouldn't it be nice to pass the keys to the estate agent and hit the road for 2 or 3 months!? Can always dream, I guess!
Take care .....
Yes. Thanks Peter. Depending on distances, lighting, how I am feeling / seeing things ..... for primes I have rotated between 35, 50 and 85 for some years now. I am just considering expanding a bit wider! π
I have just done some mini research .... they are not cheap, for a 3rd party lens.
No. π
And a Voightlander ...... mmmm. That is a thought. π
Neat. π
Indeed. But that is my old camera from early 80's, kept just ..... well, because .....
It lacks the precision and stoutness of the Nikons that I swapped to 30 years ago.
However, I am putting a roll through it, just for fun ..... and to get a feeling of whether a 28 prime could be a main lens.
Mmm. Interesting, Nick. I have a feeling I will go fishing for one that is useable on my MF and AF cameras .... so probably an AF-D? Lets see .....
Nice. With my BnW nowadays, I have settled on lighter, smaller, well balanced lenses. Hence I replaced it with the 28-70.
Neat. Clever you ..... π
Thank for the re-post, Steve @stigofthedump.bsky.social π

Yes, I think I would love one. In recent years I have tended toward 35 and 50 for much general stuff. I was just surprised at how many of the fp4party use was at the wide end, so it re-triggered my interest.
Then I recalled I had a Pentax K mount 28mm, so I have been using it. First time in years.π
Indeed. I will check my piggy bank ...... but always have the zoom if I decide not to.
I was just using the old Pentax and 28 prime to see how it went. I enjoyed the framing ..... lets see how the images are. π
Yes. I have that lens, I bought it in the 90's for my F90X. A big, heavy lump! I used it with slide film, useful for getting the right crop.
It is now "de-commissioned"; it stopped talking electronically to the camera, plus got the dreaded fungus!
I was quoted over Β£200 to repair in 2017! π
