The pillory outside the library was removed from MediEvil: Resurrection and the PS4 remake of MediEvil, though Resurrection's headless zombies were seemingly beheaded whilst in a pillory. (3/4)

The text on the image reads "Pillories were a form of punishment securing the head and hands to a post (often confused with stocks)". Below the text is an illustration of someone being held in a pillory.

Pillories were devices that secured a person's head and hands to a post. They are often confused with stocks, which secured the feet. (2/4)

The text "A pillory stood outside the town library in the original game." appears on the image. Below it, there is a screenshot from MediEvil showing the library. An arrow emerges from a small object in front of the library. The arrow points to another screenshot, a close-up of the object. It is a pillory.

Screenshot of the official US PlayStation website, circa 2000. The specific page on the website is the "Goodies Download" page, showing a "MediEvil Screensaver." The screensaver description reads: "Sir Daniel Fortesque rose from the crypt and all I got was this dang screensaver. But it is pretty neat. Let Sir Dan and his scarecrow pal fill your empty moments with high-res rendered images from the darkest game since Which Witch."

The preview image for the screensaver in the screenshot was recreated from other preview images of the time, and is not exactly as it would have been back in 2000. Other elements are all authentically preserved courtesy of the Internet Archive.

Did you know? The official US PlayStation website had a MediEvil screensaver available for download throughout 1999 and 2000. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have been preserved.

If you still have this screensaver, please consider uploading it online.

MediEvil Demo The MediEvil Demo is a demo version of MediEvil released in 1998 around the full game's release window. It is the most common demo version of the game, as it was released on at least twenty demo…

The demo featured the first four levels of the game. The game's developers ended up feeling like they gave away too much of the game in the demo, as kids were happy to keep replaying the demo instead of buying the full game.

Did you have one of these demos?

Couldn't stop thinking about Sir Daniel Fortesque so I sketched him and his little buddy earthworm till 6am, it felt nice drawing in a cartoon style again, I love how it can be so expressive ! Will always like Sir Dan's design, a very heroic, cute and funny knight ! #Medievil

The Spiv The Spiv (fl. 1886) was an unsavoury fellow, but a useful contact for Sir Dan. He provided ammunition and repairs to the Hero of Gallowmere during the Autumn of Death.
