the Labour Party will never love its actual voters as much as it loves its imagined ideal voters (who do not, in fact, vote for them)

Coachella is trying to wipe all of the footage of The Strokes protest set so I’m gonna post it here. The last images on the screen made me cry.

The Columbine massacre was on this date in 1999. Instead of energizing our country to get gun violence under control, it kicked off a new normal. One of the best explanations ever of journalism's destructive impact on mass shootings came from Roger Ebert in his review of Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant.”
I went and watched the segment on iPlayer. This is absolutely wild. It’s basically doing a free micro political broadcast for Reform during BBC Breakfast.
I loved this great commentary on Mawdryn Undead with the brilliant @jameslark.bsky.social and @docoho44.bsky.social
With all the problems universities have, they are legislating to solve one that basically doesn’t exist
Shame there’s no more money for arts education in school and university departments who are dying through lack of funds.
No pipeline = nothing to go into and noone to run museums, theatres, venues and libraries.
A dark, funny, twisted, intelligent book that gives the three of us so much to chew on...

Are we really talking about the abuse of science and committing suicide in a Doctor Who story? Has the story run out of steam or does it rouse at the conclusion?

Ironically the BBC stumbled on a really important story: Desperate asylum seekers being forced to turn to fraudulent fee-charging “advisors” to navigate a system that is intentionally impossibly baroque and from which all sources of free advice have been removed.
But no: they chose Fake Gay Panic.
We're very much in the wander around the spaceship section of the story but with David Collings on the scene and two Brigadiers in action things don't stay quiet for long!

This reporting from BBC stokes division, racism and homophobia, and fails to engage with that reality faced by most LGBTQIA+ individuals. I will be making a formal complaint and hope many others will as well

The writers of Neighbours in 1986 either had some phenomenal forward planning going on or were unconsciously prophetic. A couple of examples...
Here's the brutal reality though.
Yes, Labour can pledge to build more houses. Without migrants they can't.
Yes, Labour can pledge to fix the NHS. Without migrants they can't.
Yes, they can bring in more workers rights. Without migrants you just don't have the jobs to make it matter.
A reminder that you do not have to use Amazon to buy anything. There are plenty of alternatives.
can't even enjoy the sexy thrill of needlessly endangering the lives of others any more, coz of woke
I can't quite express the joy of seeing Viktor Orbán, the man who took my grandparents' native land to the brink of dictatorship, concede power after 16 years of autocracy and corruption. This is personal.
Sun setting, birds singing, in the garden chopping up pieces of chipboard loft panel. Feeling simultaneously at one with nature and uncharacteristically alpha male.
This may be a fundamentally new kind of sin blending blasphemy, idolatry, divination, and simony, among others. Those who are not horrified at this may be entirely lacking in authentic religious awareness and feeling.
Same goes for literally anyone in absolutely any creative profession.

Meme with black background and bold white text that reads: “Iran did not have any nuclear weapons. The Strait of Hormuz was open for business before Trump. Trump started the Epstein war.”
New crisis. Same question.
What’s happening with the Epstein files?
We’re not forgetting‼️

What is especially irritating is the fundamentally ignorant framing of them as overrated, suggesting that the problem is with them rather than the particular tastes or lack of understanding of the critics who have written this hit piece.
