As I said to Global News, it's not within legislated 'Strong Mayor' powers for 15 individual mayors — without consulting their local Councils or the public — to request the removal of homeless people's right to life. It's unaccountable, dangerous, and won't eliminate encampments.

They have been displaced from their community and their support networks and have now been scattered throughout the city. This puts them at greater risk and makes it more difficult for their supports to connect with them. Evictions don't do anything but cause trauma. Housing Solves Homelessness!
Evictions are violence! We supported residents through an eviction this week. The residents had spent months preparing themselves for the upcoming winter, winterizing their tents and building shelters in which they could survive our cold winter only to have dismantle everything and move on. #onpolu

People who argue that harm reduction doesn’t work don’t understand what harm reduction does. Without naloxone, supervised consumption sites, methadone, and prescribed alternatives we would see an even greater increase of deaths. Harm reduction doesn’t eliminate harm, it reduces it.
