Image from DC Vote: I am a DC resident. I pay federal taxes. I have no vote in Congress. *image of a DC Taxation without Representation license plate* If you have representation, will use it for me? tell your members of Congress to support DC statehood. Tax Day | 12 April 2026 | #LetDCVote
I've filed my federal taxes, but as a citizen of DC I face #TaxationWithoutRepresentation. DC isn't a state so the 700,000 people who live here have no voting representation in Congress. Will you stand with me and demand #DCStatehood now? #LetDCVote #TaxDay @dcvote.bsky.social
So many newly-planted trees are going to die if they don’t get a lot of water from YOU, their neighbors, THIS WEEK.
We gotta care about the future. Water all the trees you can, now.
A field of stars with about a dozen galaxies strewn about, both side-on disks and more puffy elliptical galaxies.
This looks like just a star field at first but if you embiggen you’ll see Markarian’s Chain, a whole bunch of galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. You can see several disks and more star-looking, puffy elliptical galaxies.
Taken with my SeeStar S30 for about 90 minutes last night.
Great question that I don't have a full answer to....I forgot to update our records when we moved back to DC, and was paying CA rates for a bit. Finally realized and updated it in May 2023, and the rates went down. Rates increased in 2024 and 2025, but I'm not sure if it's always annually.
If you do decide to go with Trupanion, I can send a referral link your way! Can also answer questions from a user perspective.
Nah. Pass.
Buttigieg goes from mayor of a town with a smaller voting population than some university student body president elections, to running for president.
Platner goes directly from "nipple tattoo nazi" to Senate candidate, with no qualifications.
But AOC is supposed to wait for retirees?
I'm so sorry - this has been such a shitty time for so many. Sending good thoughts your way.
Bill Irwin is amazing!
Soooo, so good!

So excited to see that it's finally public: our friend Amy Vruno is the new executive director of @dcvote.bsky.social ! #DCStatehood www.dcvote.org/amy-vruno-jo...

I snorted, then zoomed in and realized it’s alphabetized in columns from the bottom up. Interesting flex.
Yesss!
A photo of accumulating precipitation that one might argue is decidedly snow and not rain. I would certainly argue that.
My weather app insists it’s raining in Greenbelt, and I strongly disagree… @capitalweather.bsky.social

To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.
Screenshot of the “Endorsements” page for a local political candidate. Hard to tell if he’s serious, inept, or seriously inept…this page hasn’t been populated and is still in sample mode, with the placeholder text of “Jasper is a true leader. —Example Endorsement“
It’s too early for me to be laughing this much…
Wow, a mayor can just do that? IMAGINE
Sidewalk Palooza! Because sidewalks need love, too! Host an Event. What: Host a walk, block party, cleanup, or other neighborhood event. Walk or roll together, observe sidewalk conditions, submit 311 requests, and talk with neighbors about what’s working—and what needs fixing. Why: Requests to fix sidewalks can take more than a year, while potholes are filled in just a few days. Hosting a Sidewalk Palooza event pushes for safer, more accessible sidewalks for everyone. When: Any day from March 21–29, 2026. Sign up to host an event at https://rebrand.ly/SidewalkPaloozaHost. Find events and details at sidewalkpalooza.org. #SidewalkPalooza

Oof.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the meritocracy they want you to believe Black people are violating
A C student coke fiend with no medical expertise runs our nation’s healthcare system.
Wild to me that we all - and Big Bear - have now circled the sun enough times to be able to "remember that time when..." this dumb deja vu.
ICE and assorted fed agents *continue* to traumatize and kidnap our neighbors. National Guard troops *still* occupy DC at the cost of $1M+/day. Repubs voted to control our tax law, further disenfranchising and harming DC residents. Where is the outrage and solidarity across the country?! #FreeDC
A picture of part of an art exhibit at DCAC in Adams Morgan. “One Thread, Many Bodies: The Thingumabob Community”
Had an old-fashioned Adams Morgan afternoon with @bogrosemary.bsky.social today. Lunch at Keren, an art exhibit at DCAC (www.dcartscenter.org/thingumabob), and book browsing and purchases at Lost City Books. The Devil’s Playground delivers, as always.

🎉 It’s officially time for #TranspoBINGO 2026! Let's play our way through the city! 🎉
We’re playing from Feb 5–12, rewarding non-car travel—buses, Metro, biking, walking, and rolling. Take different kinds of trips, explore our city (and region!), and support public and active transportation.
Truly awful—I’m so sorry.
