Loved chairing this panel, hearing a youth, sector and system level perspective, although I don't think I realised how teacherly I look when I do my introductions 😂

The Things We Lose On becoming unattached

A Sunday morning read on possessions, loss and memory - made me smile more than you'd think from the title! www.thisverymoment.com/p/the-things...

Agree! I very always find something of interest/ to learn when I drop in. And the tone is very much more constructive and civil than other platforms. Long may that continue!

That has gone very quickly indeed! Wow! Congrats - and what a lucky school 😊

Yes, same here. Was a stretch making London rent work on an unqualified wage for that first year, even in a shared house.

Sunday morning reading: Coming of Age by Lucy Foulkes. A brilliant if brutal read about adolescence. Would highly recommend, though it will get you thinking about your teenage self!

Why the assessment review must usher in the digital age Everything the government wants to achieve educationally can be better enabled by clever use of technology

“We can’t wait for a digital big bang,” says AQA CEO Colin Hughes in @schoolsweek.bsky.social. “We must keep making incremental progress to maximise its potential for better, fairer assessment.” bit.ly/3YgsSqX

I see Helen Hayes has been appointed to Chair the Education Select Committee, which bodes well. Was slightly staggered to see this - though I don't know why as I've been following education policy for a good long while!

This is smart stuff. Will take a proper look but thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears I'm assuming has gone into it 🙌

Agree. Held the line on accountability well. Though there might be an underestimation of how hard it is to recruit and retain inspectors. That's a biggy.

Just listened. Pretty balanced I thought. And yes, you're right, schools will pick the one that they're best in to market and why wouldn't you 🤭

Interesting. So the threshold for intervention is still the same (apart from the 2 RI judgements). With ineffective safeguarding still a thing that can bring leadership and management down. The question of whether it's the consequences that are the issue def stands then 👀

1 year ago 0 0 2 0

Or if you're only inadequate on half the judgements that you'll receive intervention? Maybe it'll be clearer once the full doc is published tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm guessing this will come in the full publication tomorrow but I'm not sure exactly what that threshold for intervention will be across the four graded areas - is it if you're three quarters not good? 😂
