We need California authors to drop a note to their Assembly member and tell them to vote in support of AB 412.

AI companies (and their money) are lobbying against this bill, and all we authors got are words. USE THEM.

We need CA authors to show their California State Assembly member that we believe that companies should be transparent about their use of copyrighted works.

The AI Copyright Transparency Act is currently pending in the CA State Assembly.

This bill would require companies to disclose any copyrighted materials used in training AI.

California Writers we need you! AI companies won’t tell us what books they trained on.
AB-412 would change that.
Bay Area authors: show up at Stanford Dec. 8 @ 10am and tell lawmakers why transparency matters.

First Colbert, now Kimmel.

Last-minute settlements, secret side deals, multi-billion dollar mergers pending Donald Trump's approval.

Trump silencing free speech stifles our democracy. It sure looks like giant media companies are enabling his authoritarianism.

ALA response to White House assault on IMLS
To dismiss the mission of an agency that advances opportunity and learning is to dismiss the aspirations and everyday needs of millions of Americans. And those who will feel that loss most keenly live in rural communities.
As seedbeds of literacy and innovation, our nation’s 125,000 public, school, academic and special libraries deserve more, not less support. Libraries translate 0.003% of the federal budget into programs and services used by more than 1.2 billion people every year. President Trump's executive order to eliminate the Institute of Museum & Library Services would have disastrous effects for communities nationwide. We call on all Americans who value reading & learning to reach out to their elected leaders.

The fact that men cry is considered a feature, not a bug of romance Kdramas. Just go to any kdrama fan board and you’ll see tons of postings of fans asking for recs where men cry and show emotion.

Take Episode 1 of Project 7 for instance: I kept thinking of the latter part of the episode because when members of BAE173 appeared, the producer/judge had tears. He had judged them on a previous show and expected them to do better. But BAE173 is still struggling and now on their sequel show. 2/2

I just started watching Project7 and I'm beginning to think that Kpop reality shows are their own genre unto themselves, with recurring tropes, characters, themes and Easter Eggs. Not only that but so many of the same judges and contestants appear on multiple shows. #kpop 1/2

The Weimar Republic The Weimar Republic was a liberal democratic republic founded in Germany in the aftermath of WWI. Learn about the era’s political and economic crises and social trends.

For more reading on how a dictator took advantage of democracy to take power, this article from the US Holocause Museum has a good summary. 21/ 21 encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a....

So he did, creating detention areas (listen, he said they were humane ones of course, everyone knows democracies don’t just kill people); for the enemies of the nation, insider betrayers and outsiders alike (they were asking for equality after all). 18/21

In these extraodinary times of extraordinary crimes, it was time to take extraordinary measures.
After expelling the enemy from the sacred halls of the assembly, the legislature voted, with the will of the people, to give this curiously charismatic man, the power to punish.

Extraordinary crimes demand extraordinary punishment.
Extraordinary punishment demanded extraordinary powers.
Powers that would not be restrained by judges nor bureaucrats.
(Temporarily of course, just until the evildoers were rounded up. This was a democracy after all). 16/21

Inside the government, where the villains thought they could mask their vile intentions behind paper and confusing bureacracy that only they puported to understand.
Those betrayers were not prepared for the lengths that justice was willing to go. 15/21
