Hand sewing the mesh-embroidered panels onto the bodice. Had to embroider the design onto a different fabric and hand sew it onto the mesh because of some issues I ran into. Almost there!

Okay, I'm mostly caught up with WIP spam. If you stuck around with me to read all of that, thank you lmao. Back to adulting/work 😭

Redid the fabric soup (dye) because:

1) I decided to use organza for the front/side panels instead
2) The original color of my bodysuit I made a couple of years ago was too dark for my liking. 🙃

Base construction mostly finished for the bodice, pointed bolero/capelet, and a detachable skirt (with bows in the back).

Finished gloves and the pink ruffle asymmetric skirt are on the floor. I sewed the pink ruffles on after this was taken, no updated pic yet!

One of the (almost finished) painted pauldrons. It needs probably one more coat and a little bit of weathering. Not the smoothest job I've ever done, but I'll take it given how much time I've had.

With a lot of the larger foam pieces, I'm covering them in silver vinyl fabric. I saw a technique where cording was used instead of foam to mimic some of the bevels, so I figured I'd try it.

Covering foam w/fabric can be more forgiving because it hides a lot of the details.

Finished pauldron construction! This is all out of foam, Flexi Filler (semi-dried and I had to salvage it as much as I could 🤡), and foam bevels. Tedious process.

Also added some self-made bias tape to the leg holes, and MMM. Chef's kiss. Looks so clean.

Sorry, I've been behind on updating this due to life/Japan/getting engaged/job stuff but:

I ended up recreating the bodice for a few reasons (mainly b/c it was giving me 🐪🦶, and some things were constructed poorly) once we came back from Japan. Fits a WHOLE lot better.

Working on the lining. Still need to attach the back pieces, finish clipping and pressing some seams, and repeat this whole process for the outer fabric too...and THEN the real fun starts there. 🫠
