I thought I'd see what spells users are adding to their spellbooks to find the most popular spells in 5e!
Data is rolling in and it looks great, but the high level spells are so rarely used by players that reliable data will take a loooong time to gather.

This is a good article and a solid take-away: be deliberate about where you're willing to take on cognitive debt.

A radar graph of a spellbook showing its composition of Damage, Control, Support and Utility spells.
Did a fun thing with my 5e Spellbook Builder — categorized all 410 spells in the game with what kind of spell they actually are (5e-spellbook.app/blog/categor...) and you can see your spellbooks' composition.

One of the best ways I know to sort Gen Xers/old Millennials into levels of trustworthiness is to take note of which beloved 80s/90s comic strip they never shut up about. Calvin & Hobbes? That's a good-hearted normie. Far Side? Probably annoying, plays hours of RPGs. Bloom County? Fully radicalized.

The updates came to the iPhone and it's even worse there. What a headache of visual noise.
Modelling your OS after the UI of your least popular product (by many orders of magnitude) is a choice.

A round door knob.
A door handle.
As a metaphor, I'm fortunate enough to have dexterity to use the door knob shown, but I still prefer using that more accessible handle that I can use with slippery hands, hands full or even an elbow.
MacOS 26 / #liquidglass is a door knob.

Really disappointed with the "Liquid Glass" in the new MacOS.
More accessible design is better design for everyone. I'm fortunate enough to not have vision challenges (for now!), but these new interfaces are now much harder to see for no reason. A terrible step back.

A screenshot of a PDF generated by 5e-spellbook.app that shows 9 spell cards per page for printing.
I added PDF generation for printing D&D spellbooks you build in 5e-spellbook.app, entirely in the browser with ekoopmans.github.io/html2pdf.js/ and was surprised at how little I had to fight it and how good the result appears to be. #5e #webapps
