The cadence of this book, the repetition, the poetry of it had me full sickos mode like yes, yessss, tell me more about the birds & how sharply they glance & what eggs they'll make, like I was a kid lost deep in a book of folklore & firebirds again

once as a little kid post-easter I begged my mom for a bulk buy. She let me have 12. I immediately hid them on the egg shelf in the toy fridge of my toy kitchen & built a fort around the whole thing for security. I then rationed them over a full year.
Lemme tell ya, they don't get better with age.

here's my school-aged child parenting tip:
keep an inventory of sweaters/jackets/whatever you send with or on your child that might come off their person at some point in the day. It makes figuring out what is missing much easier.
