Using register data from France, @jharrison37.bsky.social & H. Kulu, together with I. Delaporte & A. Pailhé, find that immigrants from North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa & their descendants are less likely to own a home & instead more likely to move to social renting compared to the native group.

Overall, we contribute to ever growing literature that some migrant groups are living longer with worse health. Further the groups that do show vulnerabilities to relative ill health make up some of the largest groups in England and Wales. Meaning tailored policy interventions are still required.

Some groups, such as Indian immigrants, show an improvement in these health metrics over time. Whilst some show a deterioration, in particular Pakistani and Bangladeshi groups whose life expectancy has fallen most recently (possibly a covid effect and not permanent).

We also find that those from other countries within the common travel area are consistently found to be living shorter lives and have higher disability.

We establish that most groups show higher LE and DFLE supporting the traditional healthy immigrant effect hypothesis. However, some groups notably Turkish, Afghanistan and Somalia born show that they are living longer lives with more disability.

@jharrison37.bsky.social is next presenting his work on #births, #partnerships & residential #mobility of #immigrants & #descendants in #France! He shows that African immigrants exhibit higher event intensity, some fertility convergence across generations & that residential barriers persist.

What does a reviewer mean when they say “the results section is too descriptive”?

I’m at a bit of a loss about what else should be in a results section if not a description of the results
