I'm a data scientist @ourworldindata.org and I need help from a botanist or someone local to Kyoto, Japan! 🌸

We present one of the world’s longest climate records: 1,200 years of peak cherry blossom dates in Kyoto.

The researcher who maintained it, Prof. Yasuyuki Aono, sadly passed away last year.

25th amendment. Impeachment. I will support any avenue to remove Donald Trump from office. We cannot leave this man in charge of America’s nuclear weapons as he threatens to end an entire civilization. And Congress must not fund this reckless administration.

Combien de carnages encore pour que nous commencions tout doucement à prendre conscience de la continuité organique et idéologique entre le génocide de Gaza, les camps de concentration d'ICE et le régime du crime de masse aux frontières de l'Europe.

There is a path. It’s the path that Michael Vick walked. He has worked with the Humane Society for the last 17 years to educate folk about animal cruelty. He says he’ll do that work for the rest of his life.

Call me when Louis or Kanye devotes even one weekend to making reparation.

This is one of the most important stories of the week that you probably missed. The trump admin is basically taking something that belongs to all of us & giving it to political hacks & corporate donors. It’s an outrage & we should push back hard.

I read 80% of consumer use of chatbots as "I am ready to chew my own leg off to stop trying to deal with the administrative complexity modern life has inflicted on me," we really are at the "deus ex machina required" stage of Too Much for people managing jobs, families, health, school, lives.

One of the hardest things to get across to most software people with great intentions is *how strong defaults are* and how tired everyone else is of dorking around trying to get things to work, but this understanding is the thing that made Apple, for all its many flaws, such a giant.

Appreciate what Bill has been doing through this but it’s fucking embarrassing that he’s more thoughtful than most Dems.

Robert Smalls was born enslaved in SC on this day in 1839. During the Civil War, he commandeered a Confederate ship & sailed it to Union waters, thereby freeing himself, his family, & several enslaved crew members & their families. He later served in the SC Legislature & Congress.
