If Democrats regain power in 2029, expanding the Supreme Court may be the only way to quickly restore balance to the court and stop America’s authoritarian decline. It can’t be dismissed out of hand.

This absurdity was obvious even in 2016.

Republicans blocked Obama from filling Scalia’s vacant seat. Even John McCain said they should refuse to fill it if Clinton won, effectively reverse court-packing.

That same year, Republicans packed the state courts in Arizona and Georgia. Now it’s Utah too

Utah is the third state in the past decade where Republicans have packed their supreme court.

Arizona and Georgia Rs did it in 2016 to secure right-wing majorities.

North Carolina Rs tried it in 2018 to prevent the Dem court from overturning their gerrymanders, but voters rejected their power grab
