I believe the answer is industry moves to China. I love how the Endpoints articles about “US govt countering Chinese biotech” leave out the part that reducing our academic resources is only going to accelerate the problem over the next few years. If you were a VC, where would you invest?

As someone in biotech, I’m stunned by the lack of more public response, especially given our academic collaborations, academic founders, academic Science Advisory Board members, and academic database/tool usage. Many colleagues are concerned and upset, but it doesn’t seem to translate to anything.

Action item: The Department of Education proposed a rule that would limit who counts as a professional degree. This affects loans students can get. Under the new definition, nurses and educational degrees are not professional degree.
