The headline says it all. Whitmire's TIRZ board erased key safety improvements.

Another project radically changed to make it worse. At a cost of $223,000.

Why are we screenshoting a post from Whitmire's TIRZ board? Because they don't allow comments. Because they don't actually care what we want.
The nut doesn't fall far from the tree!

Connections create communities. What Whitmire and @HoustonFirst are doing Downtown is destroying communities with the help of the councilmember @JMartinez4Hou.

Metro is for transit. Not repaving streets. The main purpose of Metro is to provide high-quality transit, not repave the roads. The agency's board should stick to their mission.

It use to be a transit agency. And Houstonians vote to fund transit. But Whitmire cancelled the BRT's, raided Metro to repave his commute on Washington Ave. for $6 million.
No engagement, no transparency.
All because he can.
The Transparency Ordinance cannot come fast enough.

Thrilled Houston Public Works has accelerated this repair but the detours here are terrible.
Harris County Precinct 2 @adriangarciahtx.bsky.social
is working on an amazing connector here but it's not complete.
The community could use some help here!

In a huge win for the community, Whitmire's TIRZ board has quietly changed the lane widths for W. Alabama!
We made the point loud and clear that 12' lanes are for freeways, not our neighborhoods.
@NACTO says 10' should be the standard here.

Fantastic job by District C @abbiekamin.bsky.social to get the 11th Street bike lane and sidewalk cleaned up after @ATT left it unusable for weeks!

Houston E-Scooter Ban: City Hall Moves Toward Downtown, Midtown, and EaDo Restrictions — Walk and Roll Houston Houston officials propose banning e-scooters in Downtown, Midtown, and East Downtown, citing safety concerns. Residents and businesses warn the ban would remove a key mobility option.

Misleading information in this @axios.com story:
-Drivers were responsible for the 2 fatalities
-Another Whitmire ban does nothing to improve safety
-Eridehero is a product testing company driving traffic to it's reviews
Whitmire's ban is bad for Houston. www.walkandrollhouston.com/urbanizerblo...

4th Ward is a community surrounded by streets on the High Injury Network and a freeway. We are here to help them get sidewalks and crosswalks at two schools fixed!
And we need your help too.

Looking at Telephone Rd which carries 7,000 cars. 7 schools in the area. A failure to represent the community by @JMartinez4Hou and Harrisburg TIRZ.

Whitmire and Gafrick have abused their power to force 4 and 6 lane roads through our neighborhoods.

Open mic at Houston City Hall! More evening sessions please. In City Hall, I saw a much-needed win for democracy, and a hopeful sign Americans still believe in the founding ideals of this nation.

This is what democracy looked like!
It was Houston writ large - diverse and demanding respect for our freedom.
Thrilled to hear from so many Houstonians fed up with the Mayor's attacks on our safety.
Not surprisingly, an LGBTQ Hispanic leader led the way.

Lots of frustration with the state of Houston's sidewalks but we don't talk enough about actual fixes. Denver (and Austin) lead the way.

Whitmire's proposal makes it worse.

Add to the scandalous list of money the Mayor wastes. $489,000 for the Telephone Rd. redesign on the table for the Harrisburg TIRZ. All because Whitmire has the power to railroad another project.

Board votes, reluctantly, to approve. One no vote.

When Emmanuel Molina was killed in a crosswalk, we held a press conference, invited the council member and spoke with her, emailed AND spoke about it at city council. NOTHING.

Today I went to the H-GAC board meeting to explain that Gafrick's "guiding mobility principles" is a meaningless, ridiculous phrase.

When the media quotes it without context, it's publishing propaganda. Knock it off.

What is this you ask? This is some very fine tactical urbanism.
It's taken us years to make this speedy frontage road safer to cross.

Hit the road Matt! About 50 people here! Parody is much needed for our mental health after the nightmare of Whitmire's Montrose TIRZ board.

🛴Hands Off Our Scooters, Whitmire! 🛴

What he's tried to ban:
Concrete medians
Protests near his house
Sidewalks
Bike lanes
Raised crosswalks
The homeless
BRT’s
Scantily clad ladies on Washington Ave.
And now scooters.

When Jordan says take his proposals, he means it. We urge all of the candidates, for all races, to take a look at this platform.
Houstonians deserve a city where we can all walk and roll, safely and easily, as we need.
