They want a small state. Small enough to fit in a curator's office.

Maybe Melion will be human but turn into Rowlf when he's a werewolf.
Aww, that sounds really fun! Which Muppet is going to be Melion?
Melion and the Muppets sounds great. Is this some artwork they're doing?
A very exciting day coming up at the Barbican!
Based on where it ends, it's from at least 1447. A descent of the dukes of Lancaster, earls of Northumberland and Arundel, and barons of Beaumont and Bergavenny. It was collected by Thomas Astle but no idea where he got it from. He seems to have collected MSS from all over the place.
Ooh, sounds interesting. Will keep an eye out for the article. Here was genealogical roll: bsky.app/profile/rory...
Is that their rewriting of Edmund Crouchback? One of the Lancastrian genealogical rolls in the BL's Campbell Charters has a depiction of him with a disability.
Thanks! Will be interesting to see how the film portrays it
@drfrancisyoung.bsky.social can nuns even perform exorcisms? I thought you had to be ordained?

"Aboard a high-speed train, a Nun who lost her faith must perform her first Exorcism on a possessed passenger hellbent on crashing the runaway train."
On 10 May I'll be one of the speakers at this event at the Barbican, talking about the persecution of London's medieval Jews and their defence of the Tower of London from siege in 1267: www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/202... #medievalsky

If you join the Temu Templars, you get a copy of their 'Templar oath', the wording of which is almost directly lifted from the knight's oath in Kingdom of Heaven, a film which portrays the Templars as fools and fanatics. The irony appears to have been lost on them.
On the pronunciation of ‘Outremer’: ‘It is up to the reader whether to read it as a French compound, with an ’Allo ’Allo accent, or to completely Anglicise it to ‘Outreamer’. That would probably be closer to the pronunciation used by the English men-at-arms who fought so bravely, so far from home, under Richard the Lionheart and Edward Longshanks. Many of them made it back to England, so there is a fair chance that their blood courses through your veins; you may feel that their opinion counts for something.’ - Pilgrims of the Sword, p. 19.
They've published several books, including an 'Official History' of the Templars. Blut und Boden with dad jokes.
Jim Dowson (far-right) and Nick Griffin (farther-right) dress in 'Templar' costumes. Griffin looks faintly embarrassed.
Here are both of them looking silly in their 'Templar' uniforms in Prague, 2016. For Nick Griffin and roadkill: metro.co.uk/2013/01/30/b... For his run-in with marmite: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_poli...
This 'Templar' group is the creation of Jim Dowson (co-founder of Britain First), who cosplays as a priest in a mock-medieval chapel in Ireland. Other members include Nick Griffin (ex-BNP leader, roadkill enthusiast, and nemesis of Marmite).
It’s profoundly ignorant to suggest that the Pope should be fighting crime on behalf of the Catholic Church. Anyone who was remotely familiar with Roman Catholicism would know that that’s what Daredevil is for
Amazing treasures of medieval legal history to distract one briefly from current news and marking - the Catslechta ˙ (or Cat-sections) - an old Irish legal text on cats (the Senchas Már) which even sets out various categories of cats based on various characteristics or talents.

He also refused to make the customary post-election bribe, sorry, 'gift', to his electors. Medieval politics could be just as stupid as today's, which is sort of reassuring?
If we did get a new antipope out of this, it still wouldn't be as stupid as the Western Schism, which divided Europe for four decades and started, in part, because the newly-elected Pope wanted his cardinals to cut down their food bills to just one course at each meal

A Wild Haggis in all its glory
Excited to preview an upcoming article where multi-spectral imaging of a manuscript almost destroyed by fire 300 years ago has uncovered the first medieval description of the Wild Haggis: wp.ufpel.edu.br/poiema/wild-... #medievalsky
