"he's going to be getting SO many cuddles and treats" I'm not entirely sure that conditioning him that he gets rewarded by running into traffic is an *entirely* sound strategy.

Also, get well soon.

I shared a video with someone and it added 'AI?' for me. Which I think is heading towards AI inception where AI has learned that people sharing videos thing they are AI and now AI autofills in to let others know it might be AI (even though it wasn't).

Excellent thread on the issues of ontogeny in taxonomy. As you might guess, I agree wholeheartedly with all of this, and have seen similar comments to all these, and they are very much flawed arguments. There are issues, and we make mistakes, but that doesn't mean we can't work on young specimens.

Do we know how long they float for? I can imagine it's take a couple of weeks.

Should keep them fed for a while.

That also feels like a not entirely fair criticism...

As also appears to be inevitable, I would point out the the two reviews that only give it one star, both complain the book arrived damaged which I'm not sure is an *entirely* fair review of the product as a whole!

We're #1 etc.!!!

So looks like my book with @markwitton.bsky.social on the biology of the amazing spinosaurid #dinosaurs is doing well and is currently number 1 on the Amazon sales chart (for Palaeontology). Can't keep a good book down it seems.

Plagiarism is bad in all it's forms. Here's the cover of a book I saw tyoday with an incredibly obvious rip off of Gerald Scarfe's wonderful animation for Pink Floyd's The Wall movie.

I even checked the book to look for any indication that the artist or publisher had credited the original source or it had been used with permission or something but there was no sign. They should be embarrassed by how blatant this is.

Social media apps as Lord of the Rings characters, a thread:

Twitter: Twitter is Gollum. Began as a normal halfling. Overexposure to evil left it thin and stretched and bitter.

The last week I've been shown a couple of ads for 'Struggling to integrate AI with your business effectively? We'll help make it work!' which really sounds like this is dying as everyone realises it's failing, but the companies who bought into it don't know about the sunk cost fallacy.
