She was giving a PERSPECTIVE on how to think about our relationship to stuff.
And people thought she was giving a 10 point plan that you needed to follow to the letter.
I've been thinking about the backlash Marie Kondo got and I think part of it was not just that she was saying "buy less shit" she was explicitly say "only buy what actually makes you happy" and in a nation of conspicuous consumption it pissed people off.
I really like this because it reinforces the idea that any task (creative or otherwise) needs a certain amount of discipline/stamina — sticking with it even when it’s not fab, that’s a discipline! — and that part becomes habitual

Yep! When I was teaching sketch comedy one of my first lessons was start writing something even if it’s nonsense, and finish it. Halfway through you’ll have a better idea; don’t start that, jot it down somewhere and finish what you’re writing, so you start to train yourself to actually end things.
The form of the sloppy Photoshop also clearly signifies its intent as a joke. You see it and immediately understand it's not supposed to be serious. That just makes it inherently better as a medium IMO
Watching“The Firm” again — for so many aesthetic and thematic reasons, it’s so rich and fun to watch — and it’s really the quintessential Tom Cruise performance, more than Jerry Maguire: Dazzling, intense, a man with something to prove, but also regret and real vulnerability. Human not superhuman
