💀 people have no idea what effort goes into AA. Only last con I went up to 5 and 10 € for A5,A4 respectively. people around me happily sell their A5 starting at 10 but somehow I get the overpriced complaints 🤷
don’t like the art =/= overpriced 😭

if I sound salty about this it’s because I am. my day job is also in art (3D artist) and we are not paid more than a lidl cashier for a very technical and artistic set of skills. but obviously you want your dlcs to not cost more than 10 bucks either 🙃

alternatively, try asking 10 bucks for an art print at an artist alley booth and hear 10 people tell you it’s “overpriced” when you’re spending hundreds to be there. god forbid you actually want to at least earn your costs back instead of working for the exposure

as ever, if you ask people if they think art should exist for their enjoyment they will say yes, and then if you ask them if the people making the art should get paid for it they'll tell you "no that's a fake job"

the tldr of this is AA is burning me out and rising costs are pushing me out from it because I don't have enough disposable income to keep giving stuff out for free. moral of the story is, if you think AA stuff is expensive, at least say it out of artist earshot please

in prep for my next con I found out my favorite sticker supplier basically doubled their prices out of nowhere, this is insanity
I have to really think about what to order or raise my prices into unscrupulous levels.. man I hate this
I think after this I'll take a longer break from artist alleys
