I'll admit I don't remember. I'm not a big fan of the lightning effects (except charged creeper) because I think they're too gimmicky, but it's not a high priority to change that right now.

They are the way they show up in the games. Vexes are summoned by evokers, allays are helping you to gather and build in Legends, and so on. Are they spirits, fairies, or something else? It's a mystery.
Unfortunately not, but Agnes will be!
It's the same! Although I've become too lazy to plug it in, so I'm barely using it. These days I do less coding, and more walking from meeting to meeting, so different needs.
Haha sadly no
I think that 5 years ago we loosely used "canon" and "shared universe/mythology" interchangeably. The games we design are all Minecraft and part of the mythology.
We don't really talk about "canon" or "lore". Each game is its own story. So the objective is to create consistency among different products. E.g., creepers explode, there are endermen in the End, and so on.
Recently I've been mostly playing with my son, but there are a few mojangers and ex-mojangers on the list.
Thanks, but it's slowly running out of red ink in the printer!
Hope you enjoyed Minecraft Live! Sharing a post-game group photo with Agnes, Cameron, me and Vu!
I have the same issue in my Realm ๐
Simplified answer: Structures and trees etc, are placed in the cross-sections of four chunks, when the terrain of all chunks are loaded. Large structures (villages, strongholds, etc) are generated separately, and will insert pieces of itself when the structure and chunks overlap in space.
Except lightning strikes, we tend to avoid adding destructive weather events that the players can't prevent.
No it's not supposed to look like that. Is that the main menu or when you start a world?
Have you tried turning it off and on again? ๐

I found your report on mojira, so it's in the system. bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE/...
Love the style!
Thank you, but I won't comment on future game updates.
It's just one of those weird Minecraft things
You are correct that there are too many hidden things in Minecraft and we're working on that. The example you use is not something a new player should care about, though. It could even be a problem if we overwhelm players with information about things that aren't helpful in the moment.
Yeah, that's true. It could be more like a journal keeping track of things.
No, it's not a bad thing, my point was that putting a checklist in Minecraft makes all players check of the same list instead of creating their own. So, as I said, it works better if it's something you add yourself.
Minecraft is much about setting your own goals, so I'm worried that a feature like this will put too much focus on finding mobs. (The exception right now is achievements/advancements.) I think a feature like this works best as a mod or add-on, for people who wants it.
Haha this question sounds like you are trying to prompt me like an AI.
Hey, you got a response!
It's a beautiful cat but no Easter egg, sorry!
Recently I've been playing mostly Bedrock, but that's because I want cross-play with Xbox. Otherwise I don't really have a preference, I switch between the two.
Yes, I play, but usually by myself.
Speedrunning is great! I think a "problem" in Minecraft is that too much is dependent on the seed, though. Makes it feel quite luck-based (or forcing the use of a seed-finder), but that's the case in many games.
Not really, unless you count add-ons, too. Last time I explored mods was when my son wanted a FNAF mod, and that was quite fun.
Yes, I agree with you. One thing to consider too is that Mending doesn't work on its own. You also need a source of enchanting power ("xp"), which creates the sub-goal of building grinders. This is not explicitly designed, but an outcome from the way systems interconnect, which is valuable too.
I will admit I'm not an expert on that particular topic. Java is fun, but today I would start any new game project in some different engine/language. However, if you already started, I wouldn't worry too much about OpenGL/Vulkan. Focus on finding the fun.
