My god this is still here

I think about this poor guy and all the other kids in the same situation and it's just unfathomable. I look at my kids of a similar age and I can't help but think, "all these kids in detention centers should be playing with their toys too, laughing too, learning at school too." Just heartbreaking.

It's not that weird to me that I can have conversations with kids who don't remember 9/11, but it is weird that I can talk to kids whose PARENTS barely remember it.

Update: 25k words down as of last night. I think I know where it’s all going, but I’m also figuring things out along the way. What a strange, strange process. This is honestly rewiring my brain a little even when it comes to understanding what I’m reading.

A conglomeration, at the time, feeling sweet and vulnerable and revealing. The mask of youth, with no eye holes to see. Auditory outpouring of a heart carrying a newly minted smell. A brain, Picassoing scenes and situations. The tape, a perfect soundtrack of your desire, never leaving your backpack.
