Haven't posted progress in a while as have been a bit sick and busy with work
Have an upgrade now though - LASERS!
Still a bit rough but a new turret type that does damage over time.
Begins a little weak but there's lots of room for upgrades, eventually becoming a powerhouse!

Great game, awesome inspiration ๐๐
Revamped how to move the Nodes around. Now simply click and drag them which is MUCH smoother than before.
+ Background effect to give more distinction to the actual play area. Not 100% sold on the effect right now.
Now new bugs created that need fixing ๐

Did you know that adobe's dumb stupid cancellation fees are bullshit? Just go to your bank and cancel the the monthly payment. Adobe will email once a month for a bit, just to complain that you aren't paying them to not use their software, and you get a warm fuck you feeling! ๐ฅฐ
You're not wrong. There have been times they've provided enough for me to understand what's needed.
In particular cases though, there are references to specific nodes or functions that have been replaced with v4
The biggest hurdle I'm coming across with learning #Godot is the significant shift between v3 & v4 which has left a lot of comments, help and guides online being made redundant.
I'm spending more time determining if something is still relevant than anything else at times ๐
Just me?
Previously worked for a company where the CEO pivoted the entire product because he became obsessed with Crypto and NFT's "being the future". That company folded within 2 years.
Seeing AI being treated very similarly across software and game companies. Time will tell how that works out
Thanks for the recommendation! Always up to seeing where I might find inspo ๐
Slowly improving my secondary, Roguelite Tower Defense project Node.Home
Enemies now drop 'Bits' which are used to build more Nodes
Nodes, or your "turrets", can only be built and moved within the centre shape. Nodes can be rotated as needed & eventually upgraded

Have the opportunity of building something for a good cause and have almost exactly one year to do it in!
So I'll be splitting my efforts between this new project and IdleSettlers. Lots to learn but the timeilne and purpose will hopefully keep me motivated.
More updates to come!
Haven't had much to share regarding progress lately.
An opportunity has presented itself for a separate project intended for a very good cause that I have exactly 1 year to complete so will be trying to split my time.
Already done some tests towards it so hopefully have something to share soon!
I have made fire!
"My house burned down at GDC" is something I've never heard meant literally.
@art.imitates.life is a long-time indie who has created so much joy and wonder over the years, both through work and presence. Help Evan out a bit if you can?
Still working on some major code rework in IdleSettlers and still entirely placeholder art ๐
Also added the new River tile. This can be upgraded to provide either Fish or Clay resources. Alternatively can create a Water Mill which will convert Grain to Flour

This looks sick!
Your description makes me think of Randy, though not sure if it's who you're looking for

Can now upgrade the tiles in my idle, settlement builder - IdleSettlers
Each tile type will have multiple upgrade options, providing additional & new resource options. Should you have completed the requirements to unlock them that is ๐
Still lots more to come

Starting the process of adding an important new mechanic to IdleSettlers! ๐
Quickly realising it requires a major refactor to a lot of my existing code
๐ซ
Trying to do a little each day on my tile-based, idle, settlement builder - IdleSettlers ๐
- A selection border now indicates which tile is selected
- Added keyboard support to move the selection around
- Right-click & hold to move the camera around the map

Game Jobs ๐
It would appear that Unity has entered its consequences era
While a little later than the 90's; the general reaction to Idiocracy was that it was far-fetched satire.
We're steering towards it becoming a documentary ๐
Hope it's nothing serious but damn, relate to the general issue around family communication
Then why is it so relatable ๐
Some cat breeds are hypoallergenic. Just sayin ๐
It's not so easy to expand now! Tiles now have a cost to unlock, watch your resources!
You can always speed up to harvest more resources faster ๐
(Still LOTS of placeholders!)

Congrats! What a huge milestone! ๐๐
The first stage of what I hope to be my first self-developed game; IdleSettlers
All visuals are completely placeholder (designed by me ๐) but the base functionality is there!
Still an absolute ton of work to do but hoping this can be an impressive "before" example ๐
