New university free speech complaints system to come into force this year Universities could face fines of Β£500,000 or 2% of their income if they are found to have failed to protect free speech.

Wow. This fine for 'not protecting' 'free speech' in UK universities is going to be the last nail in the coffin for universities isn't it? Because it's not about freedom. It's about protecting the ability for bigots to bigot in places of education, not the rights of students or staff. Slowest clap.

'Alice, what is a bothered sonnet?'

Its like when cream splits in a custard and you *almost* beat it back to smoothness but there are still lumps, and the sieve you would have used has got all the fresh fruit in it and there isn't really anywhere else to put it so the lumps stay.

absolutely furious with myself to discover that this thing I'm doing would work better as broken/bothered sonnets
