There are people online who say they're uninspired, but turn up and do things we appreciate. We don't always have much to tell them in reply.
At least we can thank them and say they helped make a difference to bring inspiration to someone, even if not themselves. Maybe that's their inspiration!

From thorough care to super speed. Finding a balance between DeepMind and deep thought. Excellent piece by @helenbeetham.bsky.social - helenbeetham.substack.com/p/never-mind...
With everything a person chooses to do online, there's someone totally against that choice and someone else all for that choice. ππ
I'm interested in how that affects the choices that a person makes.
What are your thoughts?
Well worth a read, sums much of the situation up very well.
A simple stick figure drawing with a large round head and a large pair of glasses. The figure has a neutral expression and is holding flask with bubbling red liquid. There is a pocket on the figure's front, with pens sticking out.

Indeed, a heartily recommended pastime!
Indeed, it was always Nestles. Ah, the memories! π
A great fun song when it first came out, and still rattles around in my head to this day!
I hope you have a quick recovery, take care!
Yep, that makes sense.
And I do understand the problems and harm this is causing. I've just finished reading the paper by @wolvendamien.bsky.social - It goes with how I see the situ. I'd love to chat about how the requirements set out at the end can be achieved.
That's what I'm writing about. What's playing out now as a microcosm/precursor of what's to come in a much bigger way. This has been genuinely helpful. I hope we can stay connected, but I understand and respect if you decide against it.
They do indeed. Just reading the first few words of the paper suggest I'm going to really appreciate this. Thanks again!
I'm learning/researching/writing about it off my own back at the moment. And in a seemingly impossible mix of having long supported artists directly, and also being into tech developments. That incompatibility tells me there are wider issues. I'll check out @wolvendamien.bsky.social thank you!
With working artists, designers, and creators already affected by these events, I see it as a microcosm of what's coming to many other fields too. I'm trying to navigate & connect in all directions--for, against, & all in between--which I understand not all will appreciate. But it feels necessary.
It has to be the inability to pay someone that's the problem. Because I don't have enough fingers to count the number of artists I know looking for that sort of work, myself included.
"Not sure I could pay an artist to do art for a pitch, so I use Midjourney."
I can guarantee that you'd be able to find an artist to pay to do art for a pitch. I've seen many friends looking for concept art, or any work who keep losing jobs because someone decided to go A.I. image generators instead
"No one reads 2,000 words of algorithm-pleasing LLM garbage over an omelette recipe and then subscribes to that site's feed."
5/5 I genuinely wish I could have connected with that user who blocked me. I hear them, their point was reasonable, and I'd like to hear more from them. #TechDialogue #CreativeCuration #CreativeExploration
4/5 This ongoing situation matters to all of us, whether for, against, or otherwise. The very fact that many people still don't care either way about AI developments is noteworthy in and of itself. #TechDialogue #CreativeCuration #CreativeExploration
3/5 One working artist blocked me earlier, even though I totally agreed with their point. I'd been hoping to engage with them further, to hear more on their thoughts and their work. #TechDialogue #CreativeCuration #CreativeExploration
2/5 This includes working artists, who are already affected & have reason to be concerned. I understand that my active engagement with AI imagery at all is enough to frustrate some. But I genuinely feel they have a point worth hearing more about. #TechDialogue #CreativeCuration #CreativeExploration
1/5 I'm trying to hear many voices about the current art & AI situation as a microcosm of what's going to play out in a broader sense in many fields, affecting everyone. Some connecting is hard, because I'm exploring all angles extensively. #TechDialogue #CreativeCuration #CreativeExploration
Agreed, to automatically call it 'art' from the outset doesn't make sense. I'm working on stuff about this at the moment. Trying to get as many voices as possible from all in on AI imagery to the max, to outright rejecting anything related to the tech developments. And working artists too.
