Gotta say the vulkan spec is surprisingly good. You can tell a lot of care went into explaining things, not just listing them. It really helps things click.

Working with descriptors in Vulkan is genuinely awful btw. There's this VK_EXT_descriptor_heap extension that makes them much easier but RADV support only just got merged into Mesa 26.1, which isn't out yet, of course 😔
From a boring triangle to a slightly less boring cube. The vulkan pain is real but progress is progress!
Skill issue :P

Congrats Hungary! 🇪🇺
Wow. Now my 1k lines feel like cheating hahah
I’ve added to ability to choose colors for buildings in my upcoming cozy building game, Island Architect.
You also get railings now when building terraces or balconies.

Just got back from Revision demoparty—my 64KB intro took 1st place. Huge thanks to @alkama.bsky.social for the audio work that made this possible. It’s a fully procedural 3:40 animation packed into a 58KB executable. I had a blast building it, and the audience reaction was incredible.
That's 1022 lines of code to render a triangle and I'm not even using vertex/index buffers yet 😅
A window showing a beautiful RGB triangle.
Progress!
I have a pc as a home server with gitea. If you're comfortable with linux, docker and stuff, you can set it up yourself. It's pretty good. about.gitea.com
~700 LOC into my Vulkan renderer and I'm trying really hard to keep it simple and restrain myself from building the "perfect abstraction layer" or 20 wrapper classes.
I just need a triangle on screen. Ship the triangle, earn the abstraction.

I like this because it articulates the conservative concept of freedom in a nutshell. You have the freedom to do x, except you don't, because I don't want you to. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Does anyone need a gemstone for their Godot game? We just published a new YouTube tutorial ✨ youtu.be/TxPLBKllOVQ?...

Call me crazy, I don't think Iran agreed to anything and I don't think they plan on reopening the strait

It is being reported on the ground in Cuba that everyone on a ventilator at this hospital died overnight.
As a Cuban, I'm devastated.
The Moon. NASA/Artemis II/Kevin M. Gill
New shot of the Moon taken only a few hours ago by the Artemis II crew! More of the lunar far side coming into view :-D

Updates to this: matte lines added, tie fighters added, a few more extra tie shots, soukd effects...
The goal was to produce something that had the old fashioned, minature effects photography, optically composited look. I looked at the originals *very* *carefully*
I mean, you don't really need a translator
Perfect

Shinji was so great at reusing drawings to create larger views, expanding the world of Tekkonkinkreet. As often as not, this was done on the copy machine, with scissors and tape.
I love seeing Tower 1 get wrecked
Kiddie Kastle Tower 2 (shares DNA with the Becher water towers)
Tower 3, reminiscent of a steel factory blast furnace
Art director Shinji Kimura’s Kiddie Kastle(子供の城)designs owe so much to my battered copies of Bernd and Hilla Becher’s photographic “typologies” (Gas Tanks, Water Towers, Blast Furnaces…), fantastic collections of industrial forms and texture.

Me blocking someone
He doesn’t seem to have any self-awareness or verbal restraint. It really shouldn’t come as a surprise at this point
I first tried Vulkan a few years ago, back when 1.0 dropped. Just enough to get a triangle on screen. Now that it's at 1.4 it feels like a good time to dive back in and see how far I can push it. I'll keep you'all posted :P
