At Uni we performed Funeral Games and I played Pringle. Orton’s plays have some pin sharp satires and delightful humour.
Teenage me would marvel at how things have turned out. He was so ashamed & scared. Where’s that fear now?

For my A Level theatre studies course my friend Katie and I performed the opening scene from What The Butler Saw. Then I saw there was a touring youth theatre production of The Erpingham Camp (I played Mr Erpingham) with Theatre In Downs who were based in Chippenham.

Both of the archivists remember me practically skipping with joy as I explored the items and it was such a special experience for me. It reminded them what a privilege it is to have the collection.

The special collections team at Leicester University have been amazing at helping me arrange this.
They said being named as a donor in the library catalogue would mean I’d be linked with Joe Orton.

A few years ago I participated in an auction & bought a unique poster for The Erpingham Camp by Joe Orton from Leonie Orton (Joe's sister). It’s a priceless piece of queer history that I get to enjoy.
