The Grand Galactic Inquisitor from The Venture Bros Season 2 episode "Twenty Years to Midnight". Art by SpookyChan/ Chandra Free
It's hard to ignore this guy!
One of my favorite pieces of Venture Bros art for one of my favorite characters. Courtesy of the talented superfan @spookychan.bsky.social

I saw a disclaimer in an ebook the other day that said, 'This book is 100% human generated. I'd rather write a story that might have lumpy bits than generate a soulless, passionless, piece of crap." I'm thinking of adding something like that to my next book if I ever get around to writing it.
[louder, as if that'll improve reception] THE BLUESKY DEVS WOULD BE VERY UPSET BY YOUR JOKES ABOUT VIBE CODING IF THEY COULD LOAD YOUR POSTS
we all know I have no life, so:
Unfortunately, what he means by "better features" is probably AI.
Out of universe, actors don't like to have their faces covered.
Also, there was an episode of _Voyager_ where Tom and B'ellana were stranded in space and I think their suits broke down within a couple of hours.
This kind of resistance to public works may be comical to some, but not me. Roundabouts where I live, a major objection to bringing the sidewalks up to ADA compliance is that that will make it easier for criminals to infiltrate our neighborhood.
Presumably the criminals are in wheelchairs.
The fact is, lawyers have been filing boilerplate and go-by motions, without ever reading them, for decades. These AI cases just reveal the extent of the problem.

"Why would you think this was the fault of vibecoding?!"
Why *wouldn't* you assume the dogshit-extruding machine is responsible for the dogshit all over the place

The fun thing about the miserable slopchuggers is that we literally all saw the pathetic mess that is Claude's own Claude-generated code.
A comic by Sarah Anderson. A woman sits on a blanket in a meadow, merely "existing". A man pokes in his head and says, "That'll be seventy dollars." Tears welling in her eyes, the woman says, "OK".
What fare gates do, their very definitional purpose, is to segregate people according to how much money they can spend. A better term for what is being proposed than "fare-gate society" might be "microplutocracy".
You could also leave the party yourself. Or just not throw a party that you can be reasonably sure will be attended by a bunch of Nazis. Of the four possibilities on this grid, then, the White House Correspondents seem to have chosen the only wrong one.
I’m about to go rip out thousands of lbs of asphalt with 100 friends and then make a fucking nature play area for kids out of the new land
A peer reviewed study shows a promising link between flu and shingles vaccines and a reduced risk of dementia. A heroin addict who cut off a raccoon’s penis for “further study” says these vaccines cause autism. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.
So if someone opts in, and has taken photos of friends, relatives, kids, even strangers, they’re “giving permission” on behalf of all those people. So lots of people have no say in this.
The whole “opt in” thing was always a charade but it’s approaching terminal nonsense at this point.

HAL 8001 with no premium-tier lip-reading package remains undefeated.
Similarly, folks just found on TikTok for example that their clips are automatically available for AI remixes and you have to go through every video one at a time to turn that off. There’s no universal setting to prevent it. And no consent was ever asked for or given.

product image from amazon where one of the answers is "to be fully transparent as an AI"
Help I found this journal on amazon and the prompts in the image were clearly filled out by AI
Motivational-image style composition. An empty rowboat sits on a pebble shore, with a wharf visible off to the right, and a blue-green lake stretching off into the distance under somewhat unsettled skies. Text: In a river mist, if another boat knocks against yours, you might yell at the other fellow to stay clear. But if you notice then, that it's an empty boat, adrift with nobody aboard, you stop yelling. When you discover that all the others are drifting boats, there's no one to yell at. And when you find out *you* are an empty boat, there's no one to yell.

"Done! We've also released Snake Plissken and John Coffy."
"Potty commodotatus", is this anything?
"Thomas says, 'This is the end of democracy, John.'"
I am learning to make pierogis that Alan Dershowitz can't have.
I'm a rebel, Dottie.
"Now"?
"Corruption is a big money saver, and you should all hire executives who don't balk, even for a moment, at participating in that corruption."
"but it has AI in it this time"
so does fucking Notepad, get out of here
More and more I am seeing "I would never use it for anything creative but I generative AI seems fine for coding" and I wonder if people realize that coding is also a creative field and the generated code is also coming from scraped and plagiarized human code, please don't give coding a special pass
