Still in 2025, some political scientists argued that we should not misinterpret Trump's illiberal policies as undemocratic. Some continue to say the same about the European far right. It's time to understand that racism, misogynie, anti-queerness are building blocks of authoritarianism. 1/
Popular attitudes are often seen as a safeguard against democratic backsliding: if citizens don’t oppose lib democracy, politicians have little incentive to erode it.

This is not “intervening” in an election. It is interfering in it. Enough of these normalising euphemisms.
Students tell us they use AI because it makes their writing better, cleaner, more likely to get an A. But it also makes it empty. LLMs like ChatGPT generate, by design, the most likely ideas and sentences. It is, by definition, impersonal and unoriginal.
