never really had a doubt they were going to end up owning that stupid thing, no matter how long it took (also today is 27 years since columbine)

I think a lot about how illustration rates have been stagnant since basically the form was invented, and the great gatsby was inspired by JC Leyendeckers legendary mansion parties

Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars.

There's just gotta be a line somewhere.

Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

It will be extremely interesting to see what institutions like Fenway Health and NYU Langone do now. The ostensible reason for their ending of youth gender care is now gone - will they resume care for all the trans kids they abandoned?

You don't just close a hospital & then miraculously the community buys & runs it. It's just fucking gone & it doesn't come back. I want publicly run healthcare, too, but this results in the opposite of that. It just kills people, & would be used to turn the community against trans people.

Hey, I get & share your anger, but this wish would literally kill a lot of people very rapidly. Including trans & disabled people. In fact, spitefully closing hospitals that have recently provided trans care & have the same staff would force trans people into more bigoted + deadly hospitals.

Case No. 6:25-cv-02409-MTK
OPINION AND ORDER
STATE OF OREGON, et al.,
Plaintiffs,
V.
ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR., in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, et al.,
Defendants.
KASUBHAI, United States District Judge:
Unserious leaders are unsafe. There is nothing more serious than our leaders' dedication to the rule of law so that we might maintain the integrity of our constitutional democracy. This case highlights a leader's unserious regard for the rule of law. This case demonstrates how disregard for the rule of law does not merely result in an abstract infraction. Rather, and tragically, this case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader's wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.
This Court can and does judge the lawfulness of the process (or lack thereof) by which any policy choice might be made. Here, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., unlawfully issued a declaration threatening to cut federal funding to medical providers who provided gender-affirming care to minors. If such a declaration could have been

6. The opinion was scathing, and called out the Trump administration for flagrant abuse of authority and disdain toward the rule of law. “Unserious leaders are unsafe,” Judge Kasubhai wrote in the opinion’s opening line. “There is nothing more serious than our leaders’ dedication to the rule of law"

Federal Judge Vacates Kennedy Declaration, Permanently Blocks Trump's Trans Youth Care Hospital Threats The judgment overturns the Kennedy Declaration which has been used to force 40 hospitals to drop trans youth care.

1. This weekend, a federal judge permanently blocked funding threats to providers and hospitals that provide trans youth care.

The judge also blocked "any similar policy."

Hospitals have NO excuse and must return to providing care under many blue state laws.

🧵 The MAGA Congress that voted for a trillion dollars in Medicaid cuts will never be catheterized by a new grad on a float pool. They will receive VIP care for the rest of their lives while voting to make ours worse. This piece traces the full chain from DC to the bedside.

The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of £500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

Question for anyone who makes things (professionally or personally or somewhere in between):

What would you do if you had a whole year, fully funded, with the one requirement that you NOT make anything for public consumption during that year?

I'm sick of how fatphobia + fast fashion have combined to make clothes not fit above right, then blame bodies for not conforming. Sick of weight fluctuations making my clothes not fit + look bad. My ancestors did much better & I want to learn at their feet, but also not deny my own culture & taste.

I'd work on my fantasy of fitting + making a set of good but basic Renaissance Faire garb that I would be wearing to work fair, but as backend staff, with three real goal of taking those patterns and making them in outlandishly loud modern fabrics with some modern details for daily wear.

@dropout.tv I assume we will be getting an Adventuring Academy with the Dragon Master Katie in the near future?

She has done so much for the ttrpg community, would love to get a more in depth insight from her.
I can only imagine Brennan would be ecstatic to have her on too!

At this point I see ai "art" the same way I see chess bots
Any computer can play chess it isn't impressive anymore, it doesn't matter, no one cares
You made a robot that can play chess better than any human, that serves no actual purpose, well done
People still play chess, because they love the game

my favourite game-genre is JRPGs.

even if I had time to play every day - which I don't: I have work to do and books to read - my current backlog would still take me actual years to finish.

and if by the time I do, AI-slop is still the order of the day, *I can just play all of them again*.

One thing I don't think I see talked about enough is how AI services like Claude Code are psychologically similar to gambling.

When you spend tokens you have a chance of a good result, with lots of smaller good results along the way to keep you hooked. No wonder some people say they're "addicted" 😬

Hey Kodansha, what the fuck? Why would you tarnish your good name this way?? Kadokawa and SMA have banned AI works, but not you? An insult to all your current mangaka and future hopefuls.

I'm gonna have to debate about entering, if this stays.

A fear and "safety" solution they were taught was necessary and it's terrifying to let go of for those who've known nothing else. But also the purpose of a system is what it does, and they're maintaining + expanding the Death Machine.

I often watch the 10+ species of native bees I can see in my garden in one view I attracted by just planting what they need and no control chemicals as what creation intended and is sustained by, while the Christian Nationalists fear bees so much they kill them off and the crops along with them.
