My reading companion is visiting this afternoon. I've been spending a lot of time in fantasy and/or dystopian books lately.

Sunday (I'm posting late!) book and a coffee! I'm equally excited and reluctant to read this becuase I love the series but I also don't want it to be over!

It really is! I found it quite unsettling.

Finished up Oryx and Crake this afternoon with this cute reading companion. She visits us once a week, occasionally twice if we're lucky!
I enjoyed the book, and while I've read darker ones, I have to admit that this is one of the most unsettling novels I've ever read.

Dystopian fiction. Just what I need today. Very soothing. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

A customer told me she couldn't believe this store would put up a Pride display, because what if children see it??

Anyway, it was my display, and I'm proud of it, and you (and your children) should all see it. #BookSky πŸ“šπŸ’™

Time for a quick chapter at the Eiffel Tower. I've let the family scale the stairs alone 🀣

Not in our name: Women in support of the trans+ community Can you spare a minute to help this campaign?

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement:
I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings.

Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️

A friend of a friend recommended a terf read this. I somehow fear the terf won't read it, but I certainly will!

Companies! Not too long ago a rainbow sticker indicated your store was a safe place for LGBTQ people. Time to start doing the same specifically for trans people. A little trans flag sticker in your window. I’d make a point to shop there.

I don't like people hugging me, but supportive head nods are most excellent and welcome!

The book Peter Pan by J M Barrie. The cover is green, the title is written in silver and quotes are embossed surrounding the title. A little bookworm bookmark pokes out the top - smiling!

There's nothing feminist about transphobia.

There's nothing feminist about transphobia.

Absolutely grim ruling from the UK supreme court yesterday.

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

The Supreme Court sided with FWS.

But it didn’t hear from a single trans person.
This ruling sets a dangerous precedent and erases trans women from protections. It puts trans rights back 20 years.

We won't stop fighting for trans rights πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

if you are a cis person it costs you nothing to just say today that you see & hear your trans sisters & brothers & others over in the UK today -- and around the world, too, knowing that rulings like today's ripple out in ugly ways.

Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.
