Unironically make for an out of left field but genuinely good choice. Good story, fantastic music, interestingly structured but still straight forward battle system, doesn't have massive lulls or fall offs in things to actually keep you interested. And wouldn't make going back to others hard. 3/3

really be missing out on all of the callbacks, references, silly little connections, and so on. Rat Wife does NOT make up for that.
4 is good for an ultra basic intro. 6 is great but can then make it hard to go and enjoy the others lol.

I say this as a rather large fan of 9, but suggesting it to someone as their introduction to the series let alone the genre is just really poor form. Not only is the pacing...."poor" (considerably worse than 7), the slow battle speed + being a love letter to what came before it means you'd 1/3
