Our final panel of the day considered empire and enlightenment. We heard from Oksana Volovodiuk (CEU) on instituting the Grand Duchy of Warsaw in Napoleonic Europe and from Cameron Bowman (Oxford), on how British depictions of African Kingship attempted to justify slavery from 1670-1740.

We've moved to the post-liberal and the far right for our next panel of the day. Excellent papers from Mintae Hwang (Bristol), Dane Thomas (Berkeley) and Thomas Maidment (Cambridge) on post-liberal American ideas, the French new right and the English rural revivalists.
