Labor Day 2026 falls on Monday, September 7, therefore the expectation would be a school year start date of Thursday, September 10.

This data is a proxy for age, not residency. Mamdani won because of a massive surge in YOUTH votes—especially Black and Latino youth (83%+).

This take is pure erasure. NYC’s progressive identity wasn't imported. It was fought for by natives like Shirley Chisholm (unbought & unbossed 💯) and the Young Lords who won community healthcare rights. New Yorkers don't need transplants to teach them how to be progressive. The paternalism is LOUD.
