Note to Trump’s cabinet: if you wait until after the genocidal act of terrorism to invoke the 25th amendment, you’ve waited too long.
The president is clearly a terrorist now, and is turning us into a terrorist nation. Even if he doesn't follow through with his threats, the threats themselves more clearly terrorist acts than if he had placed bombs around a city and threatened to blow them up if we didn't give him what he demanded.
Talk about lowering expectations: I’m just hoping we get through the week without massive new war crimes.
My love of history was not because of good teachers but in spite of bad ones. 🧵
One taught via call-&-response like he was giving mass. He called on me, "Who was Eugene V. Debs?" expecting recitation of the one sentence from the textbook about opposition to the gold standard (his only mention!).

Cat experts: Cats don't want to eat or drink out of bowls that are too narrow, because it bothers their whiskers.

Polymarket has created a market that would monetize a nuclear attack amid increasing concerns that bets are happening among government insiders who can make military decisions.
What stage of the apocalypse is this?

I’d love a new edition of this with improved quality and art!
Hey everyone. Potentially the biggest story in the country, right here. substack.com/home/post/p-...
Whether it's Donald Trump taking bribes from terror-sponsoring foreign governments, Donald Trump plotting to rig the 2026 election, or Donald Trump posting a video of the Obamas as apes, both parties must do better.
If dogs could talk, I bet they would say, “This Westminster dog show is a deplorable celebration of racism and eugenics.”

Are we at “No one could have known this would happen” yet? I’m willing to pretend that is true in exchange for action on the part of those with the authority to change things.
“Get it all on record now — get the films — get the witnesses — because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened.”

he knows that we know he's lying. he's telling us we're all terrorists to him. he's telling us that to dissent is now a capital crime. he's telling us they'll shoot us, too, and they'll say we deserved it.

It really sucks to be living at a time when this quote is relevant.

my gut tells me american politics are about to shift radically within the next few days, as this rubicon crossing event occurs with both sides heading toward snowstorm-induced isolation and online algorithms

Many incredibly awful things going on on the world. But also, blep.
Yay?
How much of the dangerous and ridiculous situation regarding Greenland is driven by Trump’s misunderstanding of the Mercator projection?
Goddammit
Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.
I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.
I feel like I haven’t even been properly lied to about the purposes of this war
i’ve used em-dashes frequently in my writing for decades, so I find it irritating that they are now seen as a marker of AI generated text—I feel like my punctuation is being taken from me. I can only hope that ChatGPT keeps its grubby AI fingers off my semicolons.
Restaurant advocates have warned that if every supplier insisted on being paid for ingredients, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry
My wife Erin has COVID. Paxlovid helped, but she is now in a rebound. Yesterday she lost her sense of smell. It was like a switch: she went from smelling to zero smell, then, 15 minutes later, normal, then this morning, “flickering”, and now muted. Is this consistent with how others experience this?
