I’m not really into awards, but I genuinely think Making Your First Comic has helped people start their comic journey.

Ringo Award nominations are open, and there’s actually a category it fits:

Best Comics-Related Publication

If you think it’s worthy, maybe nominate it?

Ever since I saw this photo, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about a Twin Peaks prequel with Marilyn Monroe in the role of Laura Palmer.

Picked up an original art page by one of my favorite artists, Gustavo Trigo, at Lucca Collezionando. Couldn’t be happier with this find — a real treasure for my collection!

I kicked off 2026 with one big goal: making my own comic.
I’ve drawn (and a bit written) before, but a 42‑page comic is a whole new challenge.

What’s keeping me on track is this awesome guide — which I now call “How to Make Comics the @mattgarvey1981.bsky.social Way!”

I must have flipped through this beautiful book by Sean Phillips at least ten times or more, sarchino for inspiration in these wonderful pages, and I don’t know how I managed not to notice before that this masterpiece was created in my own city.

I finally found the time to read THE SKIM and I absolutely loved it — actually, even more than that! :-) It has all the ingredients I enjoy: a story that's really well written and illustrated in a kaleidoscopic way that grabs you from the very first panel all the way to the last one!!!!
