Do I feel it is the worst movie of all time? No, but Silent Hill 2 definitely deserves something better and I can appreciate more what the older movies were attempting to do in telling a story in the Silent Hill universe. END.

Oh, and the dialogue, I cannot forget about that. Maybe it is a matter of translation (I watched the Brazilian dub) but it feels unnatural and too expository.+

I say "supposedly" because if they are the same character, the story will be even more of a mess. +

Another displeasing point is the actions taken probably due to the low budget. For example, three characters from the game suddenly became one in the film and different actors played "supposedly" different side characters. +

I believe what fans will dislike the most is, besides changes to the characters, will be the way it changed the perception of guilt and punishment, the meaning of the Silent Hill entity. If one considers the canon, it is hard to accept the ending and the message the film is trying to say. +

They feel as a separate entity from the canon and if the fan does not want to feel bothered by the out of character actions and personality, it is required for the viewer to see them as Movie James, Movie Mary, Movie Laura, etc... to make the story more palatable.+

Yet, the same cannot be said about the characters from the canon, who are not well utilised and are changed in a way that is not as interesting as the canon (but that is a matter of personal opinion).+

I think the movie attempts to introduce original ideas, but they just make the story more confusing and messy than necessary. All in all, the best parts of the film are the details present in the canon, like the Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn songs, art direction and some atmospheric +
