Thereβs a whole other world out there, one of peace and birdsong. Itβs right where you are, you just have to wake up early to find it.
On 3 May, join the #DawnChorusClub.
Mark your calendars, set your alarms, and get ready for dawn.

PSA: The Dawn Chorus Club is officially open. π€©
From now until Dawn Chorus Day, join in with daily side quests and meet some of the voices of the dawn chorus...as we get ready to get up with the birds on 3rd May.
Who's in? And who's sleeping through it?

The oak youβve known for years, the patch of grass suddenly alive with bluebells, or the shortcut where traffic fades into birdsong...
Local nature brings everyday joy.
With big decisions ahead, MPs need to hear why it matters.

With spring springing, why not give birds a helping hand by leaving out nesting materials?
Piles of twigs, moss & grass cuttings, or natural wool all go down well with busy nest builders! π
A Nuthatch poses confidently on a tree stump, its sleek blue-grey back and warm orange chest standing out against the woodland floor. It looks like itβs on an important mission - to visit your feed!
Well, hello there! A Nuthatch appears in your path...
(You know, the polite thing to do would be to compliment it).

You counted, you waited, and now...the #BigGardenBirdwatch results are officially in!
But who has claimed the number one spot for 2026? π₯
Head here for the full breakdown: www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happen...
A cuppa, a comfy spot, and the wholesome watch we all need right nowβ¦
Sam and Ade Go Birding starts tonight at 8pm on Channel 5.
Whoβll be tuning in? π¦
A Kingfisher perches on a curved branch above golden water, its bright blue back and orange chest glowing in warm light. The reflection of the curved branch in the water below forms an imperfect circle beneath it, creating a striking moment.
A Little Egret steps delicately through shallow water, its slender black legs and white feathers sharply reflected below.
A Lapwing stands in still, shallow water, its black-and-white plumage and wispy crest clearly visible. Its reflection sits almost perfectly beneath it, doubled in the calm surface with soft reeds around the edges.
We heard today's #BirdOfTheDay theme was #reflection... and couldn't resist joining in with these stunners.

A Brown Hare crouches in lush grass with both front paws pressed over its eyes, as if trying to hide from the world.
Attempting invisibility until at least Wednesday...

Hi there, thanks for your question! π This advice applies across the country, at the same time.
Our fingers and feathers are crossed for you!
A #SpringArrivalSpotlight wild card: a flurry of Hoopoes have been reported in the last few days!
A rare treat in the UK, these striking birds can overshoot and visit from Africa each spring.
Look out for a fancy pinkish-brown crest and black & white striped wings.
Have you ever seen one? π¦
Hi Jan, we have a wealth of advice on cleaning feeders and bird baths on our website - these can all be found by following the links from the article above, or directly, here: www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wi... π
...but if you're concerned, you can always remove suet during particularly hot spells, or choose to not to provide suet in summer.
Hopefully the above information provides some clarity - the webpage in the link above also provides further information and advice if you'd like to know more. π
...Suet products can be offered in moderation throughout the year. But homemade fat balls can melt in warm summer weather, and should be avoided.β―The RSPB Super Suet products are resistant to melting in heat...
...We therefore advise itβs ok to feed suet and mealworms in small amounts all year round. We also recognise the value of provision of these lower risk foods through the spring and summer months in maintaining the well-evidenced benefits of supplementary feeding for wildlife and people...
Hi there! Good question. Finches favour seed and in the absence of seed will divert to peanuts. Fat and suet are only infrequently consumed by finches, the species at highest risk of trichomonosis, so we consider it a low risk as a source of trichomonosis transmission...
A Robin perched on a branch, its beak full of food and other material.
To reduce disease, we all need to make some urgent but simple changes to how we feed our garden birds.

The Big Garden Birdwatch results are coming soonβ¦ π
While we wait, hereβs a throwback to when we hit the streets of Manchester to talk birds (what else?).
Thanks again to Postcode Lottery players for helping Big Garden Birdwatch reach even more people this year. π¦ββ¬

Have you paused to listen lately? Chiffchaffs calling, Blackbirds in full song, and the first Swallows on the wing.
Which spring sound always makes you smile? π΅
Just a dipper and its leaf. π₯°

Todayβs #SpringArrivalSpotlight glides in quietly...itβs the Garganey!
A rare and elegant dabbling duck, the maleβs white eye-stripe and scalloped flanks are a springtime treat.
Favouring quiet, shallow wetlands, they migrate from central Africa to breed in the UK each year.
The Whinchat hops into our #SpringArrivalSpotlight today, breeding in the north and west of the UK.
With its striking eye stripe and warm breast, it's a joy to spot in our grasslands and meadows.
An Easter Monday treat...Puffins pitter patter into our #SpringArrivalSpotlight today! π
Arriving in April from the North Atlantic, their unmistakable colourful bills are the heralds of spring on our cliffs.
Look out for these adorable seabirds returning to nesting sites.
A Grey Seal floats blissfully in calm water with its head tipped back, eyes gently closed and whiskers raised. Its expression and posture radiate quiet satisfaction, like itβs savouring a perfectly peaceful moment.
Waking up and remembering it's a Bank Holiday ...

Three frogs peek their heads above the water, facing one another as though in a serious conversation or meeting. The reflections in the still water add to the serene and slightly humorous moment. The blurred green background enhances the peaceful scene.
A highly classified meeting of the Frog Council. πΈ

A Sand Martin mid-flight, wings stretched wide and feathers fanned, turning back with a knowing little smile, one wing lifted as if waving off any remaining responsibilities.
Logging off for the long weekend and waving farewell to all my unfinished work... π₯²
Today we welcome the nimble Common Sandpiper to our #SpringArrivalSpotlight!
Known for its 'teetering' and distinctive flight, look for a small wader with contrasting brown and white plumage.
PS - listen out for its three-note whistle as it flies!
