Finally reached adulthood, purchased a proper workmate as my Woolworths(!) knock off one finally died. Reggie is most impressed!

This obsession for American pickup trucks on UK roads is insane. Dave, you live on a fucking estate in Doncaster not on the prairies of Montana. Tax the bastards to oblivion

Avery Brooks as Cpt. Benjamin Sisko in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

Avery Brooks as Cpt. Benjamin Sisko in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

In 1993, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" made a Black man the star of a major sci-fi franchise and his character was like the Platonic ideal of a loving father, a great cook, a man who uplifted others, who was kind and tolerant but MILITANTLY so, and who also had flaws like any other human. Hail Sisko

A pigeon sits on a rail overlooking the sea

Husband is genuinely worried about the photos I take but how is it possible not to recognise this as pure art?

Who is he? What is he thinking as he stares out to sea? Is he happy? His colours are one with the vast ocean.

my favorite scale model of the solar system is in melbourne. it has the sun as a 1.39 meter orb, then you can walk/cycle out to each planet. mercury is 50-ish meters away and all the way out is pluto at 5.9km.

it also has, a few steps away from the sun, a model of our nearest star, proxima centauri

Please read this, understand what the govt is doing & take action. Labour's immigration proposals swap integration for segregation, introduce a Dubai-style Kafala system of coercive employer control & drive low-income families into poverty. They're an abomination.

Capital funding poisons software projects. Using capital funding instead of operational funding is one of the biggest causes of failures in government software projects.

New blog entry: "Capital funding poisons software projects."

In short: Using capital funding instead of operational funding is a major source of government software project failures. The fix? We've got no good playbook here, but it's probably an IT investment fund.

By the Home Office’s own estimate, the pause will reduce asylum claims by around 1,400 over the next 18 months. More than 100,000 people claimed asylum in the UK last year. It’s a policy that has no operational benefit to the asylum system, while having a huge personal impact on those caught by it.

Job posting off linked in your rate 450 vs customer rate 650 now that is what i call a margin

A note to my contractor design buddies. You can push those rates *right up*, the recruiters are fleecing the customers and you. No one deserves a margin of 40% for another persons labour.

Dolphins, stingers and ‘salt tongue’: an epic ocean swim around New Zealand’s east coast Jono Ridler has battled loneliness and fatigue as he aims to break the record for the longest unassisted staged swim – and raise awareness about fragile marine life

"Ridler’s efforts have caught attention – the petition [to ban damaging trawling] has more than 40,000 signatures, with numbers growing daily. He also managed to secure himself a spot in New Zealand’s fish of the year competition (he came fifth, losing out to a little-known Northland mudfish)." 😂👏
