I would also need to see what sort of perf improvement we could expect in reasonably large projects. I suspect it's not insignificant but it'd help a lot in justifying money investments to have solid numbers.

That is not the real UI. That was a toy made by the design team for a marketing event. The real UI that flies a real space ship was never released to the public.
