English is not sensible either, because Old English got mixed with French, in a similar way as happened with Dutch later. Before that, Old English was derived from Old Norse, while Dutch was influenced sideways by it through Frisian.

Of course, this is not Dutch, it's English. My countrymen use it way too much, and in twisted ways.

The first seems somewhat normal here as a variation of an army dump.

The second is an attempt at humour - I hope. Few people here would know the original meaning, but it made me wonder.

Dutch is not sensible, it's full of exceptions that need to be learned. It's an amalgamation of three neighbouring languages. In the middle ages, there was a committee that combined two of them and tried to leave out Frisian, the one closest to English. It's hardest for Germans because it's closest.

Most older #social #media #censor simple #project #updates, classifying them as #promotion, on which the #platform owner wants a #monopoly to place #paid #advertisements. They are completely unsuitable for any project #communication or promotion.

Most places are increasingly unworkable and unlivable due to owner issues and other poisonous people. Most are structured as little kingdoms where power hungry, insecure people #patrol as #gatekeepers. #Bluesky is direct between people, without #middlemen, if you don't blindly follow #block #lists.

Happy new year! #Bluesky developed well last year and worked well for our #MetaLang project, albeit still on a humble scale. It allows us to find the specific audience we need, while keeping unreasonable people at bay. We will continue moving more of our communications to Bluesky.

Generally, the submissions in various #assembler forms produce the smallest #binary #executable size. Submissions in #HigherLevel #languages produce the smallest #source #code, but they require #interpreters to run, or #compile to substantial binary code for complex expressions and runtime library.

I did also optimise for the #binary size that I know the #MetaLang #compiler generates. WRITE/LINE is longer in #source #code than WRITE, but it maps directly to a single function in the standard #C library.

So it's a choice or balance between source and binary size.
