The recruitment most definitely is a problem, it was a terrible summer for many many reasons

Salah’s passes inside being shite, conceding to the 1st attack against the run of play, having a pen ruled out and losing players to injury.

This game couldn’t epitomise this season anymore. Parts shite. Then playing really well and conceding the first shot. Marma being passed to the wrong foot. Wirtz being good but not actually setting up a clear chance.

Some of them would be better with the right replacements around them - but i’m just not arsed which ones get replaced in the summer.

I’d happily sell anyone we bought last summer.

I’ll be honest - there’s not a single player in this squad that i’d be arsed if replaced. Rio only maybe.

Thought i’d fall in love with Wirtz, I haven’t.

Hugo has been good but you lose intensity and closing down with him, he’s lazy.

Dom has far too many limitations.

I’m not really sure how you can come to the conclusion “he’s got no plan” we can quite clearly see the one touch football and positioning he’s telling them to do. But if Marma causes the defence to self destruct and Wirtz keeps making the wrong decisions the plan is irrelevant.

I don’t think any of the problems are solved under Alonso - and then i’ll have to argue in defence of another person I really like when everyone just assumes all the faults of a football team are because of one person.

I agree and furthermore next season will be better regardless of the manager. It’s also part of the ebb and flow of form and football.

So what you’re saying is that it’s actually more common than going back to back winning the league.

There’s a number of things wrong with this squad, the entire management team and even the luck we’ve been getting.

But it doesn’t bode well for the future when you have an 18% loss rate with Ali in goal this season and a 60% loss rate with Marma.

It’s like the centre backs just then to cabbage.

“Degloved” 😖😖 - an underrated terrible word 😂

What the hell is a detached finger??

I'm mostly concerned about Marmar, Kerkez and Mo this evening - let's hope all three surprise me.

Spurs are definitely the worst team in the league when you consider everything- wages, signings, management changes.

Oh I do hope they go down.

What a terrible season though really.

Who’s actually played good football? City occasionally- and that’s very occasionally.

Arsenal are dreadful to watch. Everyone else has been poor.

It’s been a dreadful season for actual football.

There’s one thing not beating a bottom place team away when fighting for fifth, but drawing at home to the 17th place team whilst chasing first with 115 charges and the £550m net spent in 3 windows is unforgivable.

Im pretty sure we’ll get Champions League, top 5 get it and we’ll end up at least 5th - but it’s going to be a race of how shit, not how good United, Villa, us, Chelsea and Brentford are, because every team looks capable of losing any game, at any point.

One of the most LFC games ever.

Concede a goal on the counter after having all the possession and its their first shot ✅

Make their keeper pull off a world class save ✅

Lose to the team bottom of the table ✅

…when he perhaps hasn’t got that in his locker anymore and when he does rarely manage to get to cut inside his shots have been miles over too.

There was no shortage of effort today from him at least.

It could be, you are right. He’s been through terrible patches previously. He’s always been poor for the rest of the season after AFCON but this year he left being poor.

Could be burnt out after last year too. Or it could well just be time. It’s hard for him to keep trying to dribble past someone…

Yeah, we also miss his bite and energy in the middle.

What annoys me is if we’re pressing or at least “marking” and the opposition passes around the press and gets into space, everyone thats just been cut out either just stands there or slowly jogs back.

I’m not even sure it’s Slot’s instruction to sit back after we scored. City just HAD to up the effort or they were out of the race. Nearly all (decent) teams come back when they’re a goal down. I don’t think City were told to sit back for the last 5 mins and let us attack but they had no choice.

I can accept the pace and energy going but it’s how woeful is passing and more importantly his shooting has become.

When Gakpo played that ball across the box to him, I knew he was going to get a shot on target and I don’t understand why thats gone so poor.

The subs and the lack of trust in certain players has always what has annoyed me about Slot.
He did bring Jones on for Gakpo though, but i’d have liked go see Endo for Macca too - maybe the ball for Alis foul doesn’t happen then.

Did you? I thought Salah was beyond useless. But you can’t take him off or we get politics involved again and we’ve only just recovered from the last strop.

I think if we’d had Frimpong on we’d have scored another. Both wide players are crippling the team at the moment.

I don’t expect us to dominate an entire game against City though. I mean we’ve beaten them a couple of times by never leaving our own half except for a counter attacking goal.

The passing from a handful of players was awful though, but I thought City were poor as we were open for a while too.

Not really, there’s an entire backroom of staff for that, including sports psychologists.

It’s more likely the assistant manager isn’t doing very well at it, or any of the 8 other new first team coaches.

People saying “he’s the manager he should have taken Salah off”

1. For who?
2. We’ve only just recovered from the last strop he threw, you cannot drop or sub him, that’s the situation you’re in as a manager, it’s politics.

Ah well the Slot haters are back out in force now. Boring to be honest.

He could/should have maybe made some more changes but how do you account for Ali’s foul no matter who you bring on.

Dom too deep for the daft flick on. I don’t mind being defensive but not closing down drives me mad.
