It’s been incredibly challenging—not just financially but emotionally.

Recently, a few people thanked me for being so active on the front line as a captain and with @gpm-official.bsky.social and I realized in the moment how much of a toll on the heart it’s been.

I believe in this fully.

I just realized something so stupid…it’s because we have a live audience and it’s important for immersion to transform and embody the character. Physical transformation is much more necessary in that live scenario. BUT it lends itself in the booth so much. 🥰

Maybe it’s my theatre background (went to college for it) but everything you just explained sounds to me like…

…being an actor. 😂 And makes sense 🤷‍♂️

Soooo if you’re an actor that embodies a character including physical characteristics such as a change in facial expressions monster how minute they may be…can be defined as “the Thing”?

My head cannon is I’m the reason the VA community is losing its mind about this today 😂

I started in theatre 🎭 (and musical theatre) and believe it set me up for success with work ethic but I also know it gave me some not always healthy idiosyncrasies.

Worth perusing if you think what employers are offering for videogames is “good”🙃

And that’s not to say that all games are union. This strike isn’t a U vs NU thing. It’s much bigger than that. It’s for everyone. It will ripple past the entertainment industry. Plus, most union changes affect the NU space as well.

I should be clear. If we cave. If we don’t stick this out until we get a fair deal. It won’t be long until performers have no say. If there’s no performers, then scheduling sessions isn’t needed.
Which means staff at studios is barely needed. Which means no budget for hours. Which means layoffs etc

Remember my comment about A Bug’s Life earlier? This is it.

I’m a SAG actor but I’ve also worked as an engineer on several games.

This strike affects SO MANY people that aren’t just performers. The whole production infrastructure will change and a lot of people’s livelihood will disappear. Poof

There are members of the VA community that are so “above” most of us that they should be seen as management. They report to the employers and the employers are going to use that to their advantage in order cause in fighting to tear us apart from the inside.

Don’t believe everything you hear.

Hey. I'm gonna be real. To all the rich VAs saying "this strike needs to end" because your bottom line is starting to hurt:

Suck it up. Those of us at the bottom who have a hell of a lot more to lose are running Uber Eats etc to make it through this.

The strike will end when we get our deal.

You have decency. You’re not acting in a way other twats are. You have consideration for the well being of others.
