For interest’s sake, we saw 60,000 for the final game of the NBL Finals, something we’d never tried before.
Would love to add live coverage of the domestic rugby, netball, and soccer as a priority if we could boost our resources.

Fourth month in a row of 20 million page views for ABC Sport stories. Ashes and Australian Open always strong, but Winter Olympics into Asian Cup has seen a great and consistent audience through the usually difficult February and March months.
I’ll post the data sometime early next week, but more than half of our most read stories of the past two weeks have been Matildas related. The semi from the World Cup remains one of our most read stories ever.
Australia’s team. #asiancup
Happy #iwd2026. A reminder that women’s sport not only matters, it is an absolute behemoth when you give it the attention it deserves.
Matildas comfortably sit atop the most read live coverage stories that ABC Sport has done since I joined the team.
Really looking forward to the Unfiltered episode where the brother of the last CEO of the AFL interviews the current CEO.
Should be a real hard-hitter. #AFLSunsCats
Currently on parental leave so not involved in the coverage of the Games, but the team has it more than covered. I think I like the Winter Olympics more than the Summer Olympics … is that weird?

Love the walk through history of the Winter Olympics at the #openingceremony.
“Here’s the 60s. And the 70s! And now the 80s! OK now culture barely changed for 40 years, let’s skip forward to now.”
The top 20 live blogs for ABC Sport since the start of August. For anyone questioning - as I've seen all too often - why there has been so much coverage of Gout Gout.
Incredible effort for a teenager to do what he did.
Very much appreciate that a story has been done about this, but heads up that you've got a picture of the incorrect Mitch Brown.
I need to use this account more, and what better way to do so than share this story that’s just gone live and is up there as my favourite to write.

Sorry I’m not sure which part you’re talking about.
Queensland begins its defence of the Women's State of Origin shield on home soil, as New South Wales attempts to replicate last year's heroics at Lang Park. Follow live.
It depends on the event really. US election last year, from memory, saw about 4 million+ on election day.
Big days on the business and federal politics blogs would be 300,000+ but it varies.
The biggest blog I ever oversaw was the Matildas beating France at the World Cup, which was 1 million+.
There are a few things worth noting:
*The NRL outperformed the AFL on the big days, but overall AFL was consistently more popular in the regular season
*Blogs live and die on what happens, rather than relying on a 'regular viewer' mentality like TV
Our live blog schedule can move with the wind a bit - this year we did the Canada v USA ice hockey and it was our biggest performer so far, so I think the 'other' category is always interesting ... (2/3)
Seen a lot of worthwhile sport viewership stats of late and thought it'd be interesting to show which sports on which days saw the greatest audience on our website last year ... (1/3)
Jeremy Cameron has moved into Geelong’s top six goalkickers since the start of 2000. Moves ahead of Kent Kingsley. Tyson Stengle has surpassed Travis Varcoe.
My local Coles has made a terrifying decision.
“I'm afraid the Nazis have succeeded with their propaganda. First, the Nazis have run the (Olympic) games on a lavish scale never before experienced, and this has appealed to the athletes. Second, the Nazis have put up a very good front for the general visitors, especially the big businessmen …
Love this from @simonsmale.bsky.social. I’m a stadium nerd but this is elite stadium nerdery. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...
Lovely yarn from @deanbilton.bsky.social. An update is needed but the Gabba is special. Funnily enough some of my greatest memories at the Gabba are when Geelong lost. The McCarthy mark. The Dusty show. Ablett retiring.
It’ll be sad when it’s gone. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...
Essendon and Adelaide are first up on a big Saturday of footy as the Crows set out to win at the MCG for the first time since 2017. Follow the action in our live blog.
Thought Richmond was in for a really long season but that half showed there’s enough to be positive about. Lalor looks instantly clean in everything he does. #AFLBluesTigers www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03...
India's triumph at the 2025 Champions Trophy is the crowning moment for the world's best white ball team. Sadly, many won't see it that way, through no fault of the players themselves, writes Chris de Silva.
Pleased to say that for the second season in a row the ABC is live blogging all the AFL and NRL action. Hopefully we can provide a bit of fun in a tough old week.
