I’m a child of divorce I wish my parents were together I cry until I’m hoarse Mom’s a national treasure I scream at my step-father, “You’re not my real dad! My real dad wears leather And drinks when he’s sad!” Now he’s a fine enough fellow, My stepfather, but he’s a placeholder In my mind, in my thoughts down low, She’ll eventually go back to my father My stepmother is a criminal, Her crime being her existence Making sure my parents will Never get back together, in essence Ruining every dream I have Of my parents back together, All because of them—step mom and dad— But really it’s my father’s fault forever.

Can we normalize being sad that it’s the end of an era? we know she’s coming back but this hits different. This show has been part of us for almost 2 years, met so many new friends through it, and felt the happiest and most alive.
