LVT = land value tax. A proper land value tax should help encourage proper utilization of urban land and in a way that helps discourage underutilized land in urban settings, the LVT should work well to reduce VMT.

I'm not anti-billionaires but this is partially because eventually we will have as many billionaires as we have millionaires.

I think something that said anyone who has more than 1% of American GDP gets hit with a wealth tax is becoming more appealing to me though.

It's kind of funny how Hayek's (mostly correct) argument against central planning because concentrating that much economic power in one place inevitably lead to totalitarian behavior is also a pretty strong argument against like, extreme concentrations of wealth and market power

WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

My understanding is that, at least for some of these places, the taxes per sq ft should be solid so that's at least something.
