Metro is holding public meetings starting this week to review our proposed fare changes. For more information, visit www.gpmetro.org/fare-policy-...
We'll take a look at this next time we do a schedule change. For the most part Route 1 is aligned quite well with the Amtrak schedule, but this is clearly sub-optimal.
This plan is subject to change based on conditions on the morning of January 26.
Metro's Customer Service office at 21 Elm Street will open at 8am.

Due to the impending snowstorm, Metro will delay the start of service until 8:00am on Monday, January 26, 2026. Passengers should expect delays and possible detours as buses may need to navigate slick conditions. Sidewalks and bus stops will likely have varying levels of snow throughout the day.
Can't make it? Take the survey or consider joining us in Scarborough on Nov 15th.

Service changes coming this Sunday, including restored service to Atlantic Street in Munjoy Hill, expanded microtransit service in Falmouth, schedule adjustments, and one more still to come...

Cheers to the Hearts fans taking @gpmetro.org 9A to the match. Stop is just a block away.
Due to construction, Routes 1, 9B, Breez, and Husky Line will be detouring around Congress Street between Monument Square and Franklin Street on Tuesday, May 20. A similar delay is possible for Wednesday, May 21. Delays should be expected on these routes during the detour.
On Earth Day, public transportation is doing its part to protect the one planet we all call home. Public transit use in the United States reduces our gasoline consumption by 6 billion gallons each year and replacing a car-trip with a transit-trip lowers carbon emissions by 55%.
The second meeting of the Advocacy Committee will be held on March 24, 2025 at 4:00pm, both virtually or in person at 114 Valley Street in Portland. www.gpmetro.org/event/advoca...
Metro's newly formed Advocacy Committee is tasked with building support for Metro at federal, state, regional, and local levels, in order to increase Metro's recognition as an essential service to the Greater Portland region.
Would it shock you to learn that our service only goes to 1 lighthouse (0 before our merger with SoPo last year)?
I think it's time for a refresh!
I'm kinda obsessed with all the different TAP cards. Love that each agency does their own thing with them.

Service alert (3.12.25 at 10am)
Due to construction, Congress Street in the Westbound direction only is closed at High Street. Metro routes 1,7,8,9A and Breez will detour. The stop at Lafayette Square (Congress and Park Street) westbound will be missed.
Note: As we await a second phase of our website relaunch, email and text alerts for meetings route alerts, and other news is temporarily disabled. We will post all such notices on our social feeds and on our website in the meantime.
The meeting agenda for next week's Board of Directors meeting is posted below. Find all future Board and Committee meetings on the Calendar section of our revamped website.

Greater Portland Metro will operate on a regular Sunday schedule on Sunday, February 16. Due to the impending snow storm, buses may be delayed and travel times may be longer than shown on schedules. Visit our real-time map or use the Transit or Umo apps to minimize your wait times during the storm.
Update: โOur payment systems are online again. Customers can add value to their accounts normally. We thank you for your patience during this outage.
All existing stored value on DiriGo accounts will work normally..
We will update again once the payment system is back online.
Update: DiriGo accounts should be reloaded at our Customer Service office at 21 Elm Street until 7:30pm Friday, or participating Walgreens, CVS, and 7-Eleven locations.
Customers with low balances on their DiriGo Pass accounts should make plans to load value at those locations.
It is likely that this affects all DiriGo customers, including Metro and BSOOB passengers.
More information to follow.
Due to an unexpected issue, we are unable to take online payments to add value to DiriGo Pass accounts via the Umo/touchpass website or the Umo app. We are assessing the full impact of the outage and the expected duration and will provide an update at that time.
Due to an emergency situation, buses are not being permitted to drop off or pick up at Maine Mall. All buses will serve the Philbrook Avenue Hannaford only in this area until further notice.

What a year! In 2024, we:
- Got a new Executive Director
- Added Gorham as a member community
- Extended Route 7 to the Jetport
- Launched Metro Connect, our microtransit pilot in Falmouth
- Welcomed South Portland as a member community
- Implemented new technology systems
See you in 2025!
Christmas Eve service ends early tonight; no outbound trips after 7pm; outbound buses before 7pm will complete their round trips. No service tomorrow. Happy holidays!
We expect these issues to be resolved on or around the official merger date or 12/29/2024, as Metro will take over feeding the data to these providers for all routes, including 21, 24A, and 24B.
