A rising, bipartisan sentiment that really bums me out is the idea that experience in public office is irrelevant, if not bad, when choosing executive leadership in government.

Why like cherry if not cherry?

My two-year-old is currently being terrorized by the concept of cherry tomatoes.

I used to run an anonymous hot dog (and other hot dog adjacent goods) rating and review IG account. I fucking love them.

We had to say goodbye to one of our best friends today. He had a lot of names, he wore a lot of hats, and he helped me through many challenges. A dog might be man’s best friend, but a cat is man’s best roommate. You were a real one, Bean. Love you forever.

It’s pretty jarring in Toy Story 3 when you’re abruptly reminded that Buzz Lightyear is a cop.

Elon couldn’t pay people in Wisconsin to vote for a Republican. Might not be a good sign for them.

I wish people would be more honest about the argument they're making, which is that they think Democrats need to be more enthusiastic in affirming the identity of heteronormative Christian white people because they will tear down the Republic if they feel insecure.

From the NYT editorial board yesterday. Note that the current administration is hyper-focused on personal identity and Americans' differences. Especially race, gender, sexuality, and religion.

I think it’s annoying when shows like Paradise go through all the trouble of setting up an atleast somewhat interesting setting and situation only to tell a whodunnit that could just as easily be told without the setting or situation.

I’m not advocating for anger. I’m questioning the value in making excuses for them.

I think you’re bullshitting now. The “no politics at dinner” served to disconnect people from civic society and turned them into negligent citizens. But we don’t want to offend those people, so we do this weren’t classist infantilization where we pretend that they can’t be expected to do better.

If you don’t think them having a lot going on has anything to do with them not caring, I’m not sure why you wrote a post suggesting that it does.

I do understand that they don’t. I’m disputing the idea that they don’t because they have a lot going on. It will be very hard to “rebuild our entire society” in a way that looks better than what existed before it if so many people don’t give a shit. Getting them to care is important in that effort.
