… what would the world be with us fully in it, what about the 900 petroglyphs of our embraces.

A necessary reminder:
Friends, I wrote a piece on poet Laura Gilpin, who died of glioblastoma in 2006.
She is best known for “The Two-Headed Calf.”
With gratitude to the Poetry Foundation for allowing me to try to restore this remarkable healthcare practitioner/poet’s legacy.

Thank you @cincinnatireview.bsky.social editors & @ericadawsonpoet.bsky.social for publishing my long poem ‘Your Inbox Is Too Much With Us’, an imagined email correspondence with my non-personal inbox. Full poem in their latest print issue & online. Congrats on a stunning issue! tinyurl.com/4cd6susk
Today on the site, 22.1 contributor @jayekranz.bsky.social , a documentary filmmaker, shares a video that takes us on journeys through email exchanges and ASCII landscapes that feel both déjà vu-like and oddly tranquil. buff.ly/NqeQT2q
Fraught. Currently changing my pen-grip which has changed my handwriting entirely and identity crisis !
Congrats to all the longlist and shortlistees. I look forward to holding and reading all the poems when the Anthology is published later in the year.
I have shared Diaz’s comments here, along with the poem.
My immense gratitude to Natalie Diaz and to the Plaza Prize for the encouragement of this — and for all you do for poetry.
If you haven’t read Diaz’s ‘Postcolonial Love Poem’ or ‘My Brother Was An Aztec’ I recommend them to you highly!
I’m overjoyed & honoured to have won the Plaza Prize for Poetry judged by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Natalie Diaz —whose work I adore & admire immensely. To have one’s poems read at all, let alone by one of your poet-heroes & to have them reflect so generously on the poem is a gift beyond measure.
