You're right, and with that being the case I hope whatever outcome emerges from this situation is a best case scenario for all parties and helps eliminate animosity that has tainted public perception of the mod vote. At this point, allowing input swapping is certainly what most people want to see.

As I understand, the input swapping rules were a hasty compromise to satiate two irreconcilable sides and weren't given enough longterm consideration. I really wish the mods had put more thought into input swapping before Niftski started his TAS tie grind, but I'm not convinced this was targeted.

Even with that being the case, I wouldn't say the revote only affecting Niftski means it must've been in bad faith. In my opinion, this situation not only shows a failure with the revote but also the original vote that allowed input swapping to begin with.

This should have been handled privately instead of becoming a big affair, and the only reason I was willing to work on a public document is because the cat's already out of the bag. I do agree the vote is dubious and should be reconsidered given internal and external handling.

Of course, you're right about this just being a game of telephone. Unaffiliated parties are conducting an investigation into this matter and hopefully they will make sense of the discourse everyone's presented and provide an appropriate conclusion.

My main purpose in working on this document was showing that a least charitable analysis was framed as undeniable proof of rigging even though the evidence is hardly definitive. I worry that Niftski and Hitz misrepresented context to make averge out to be more spiteful than they really were.

It's fair to conclude there were conflicts of interest and biases that made the vote less objective than it should've been. Even if a lot of the internal mod discussion was thoughtful, a revote that encompasses a broader audience is warranted.

There's a lot to criticize averge for and I don't want to hand wave away those issues. I wholly disagree with them encouraging others to vote a certain way and Niftski isn't unjustified in assuming this was a targeted effort. However, I don't believe his claims of rigging are substantiated.

This is meant to be more of an impartial analysis of Niftski's response than it is an overview of the whole situation, so that's worth keeping in mind. I agree that the input switching situation is sketchy and don't doubt that averge's connections is the reason mods reconsidered the rule.
